The Nanette Dupont rink is off to a 2-0 start at the Canadian Curling Club Championships in Leduc.
Dupont and her Lethbridge Curling Club and Alberta representative rink of third Samantha Davies, second Kendra Nakagama and lead Avice DeKelver defeated Prince Edward Island 7-4 in the Tuesday morning draw and improved to 2-0 in the afternoon with a 12-2 win over the Northwest Territories.
In the win over Prince Edward Island, Dupont trailed 4-1 after four ends, but scored a four-ender in the fifth end and stole another in the sixth to take a 6-4 lead.
The local rink stole another in the eighth end to clinch the win.
Dupont jumped out to a 7-0 lead after the fourth end against the Northwest Territories, opening up a 1-0 lead after the first end and stealing one in the second, three in the third and two in the fourth.
The Alberta team added four more in the eighth.
Dupont is back in action this morning at 10 a.m. against Newfoundland and Labrador and again at 2 p.m. against B.C.
