Dupont rink topped by Nunavut

The Nanette Dupont rink has been handed its first loss at the Canadian Curling Club Championship in Leduc.

Dupont and her and her Lethbridge Curling Club and Alberta representative rink of third Samantha Davies, second Kendra Nakagama and lead Avice DeKelver lost 7-5 to Nunavut in the Thursday morning draw to put the locals at 4-1.

At press time Thursday, Dupont was playing Nova Scotia in the 8:30 p.m. draw.

On Thursday morning, Nunavut opened a 4-2 lead after four ends and though Dupont was able to tie it 4-4 in the fifth and take a 5-4 lead with a steal in the sixth, Nunavut retook the lead with a pair in the seventh and a steal in the eighth.

Heading into the 8:30 p.m. draw the Alberta representatives were still in second place and looking to hand Nova Scotia their first loss.

The playoff draw starts today.
