Clipper Queens earn sweep of Cardston

LETHBRIDGE HERALD

LCI swept Cardston in Southern Alberta Girls Basketball League opening-season play on Wednesday.

In senior action, the Clipper Queens defeated the Cougars 85-53 as Presley Heggie led the way with 19 points while Lily Jensen added 11, followed by Bailey Kutsch and Annah Westrop with 10 apiece.

Lauren Wolsey replied with 11 for the Cougars.

In junior varsity play, LCI defeated Cardston 74-64 behind 13 points each from Maddi French and Faith Heggie and 11 from Kenzie Kutsch.

Sasha Elliot replied with 14 for Cardston and Summer Hallock and Kiara Rabbit added 10 each.

In other action, Medicine Hat High Kwahommies topped the Catholic Central Cougars 74-65 as Jordyn Knight tossed in 20 points and Taya Karsten added 14.

Claire Talbot replied with 13 for the Cougars and Jordan Goruk added 11.

Medicine Hat downed CCH 59-41 in JV play as Abby Watson and Precious Agbabiaka scored 13 points apiece.

Kiara Jankowiak led CCH with 11.

Raymond Comets rolled to a 97-49 win over Taber W.R. Myers Rebels as Saige Gibb dropped in 26 points, followed by Kira Collier with 19, Kolby Terry with 15, Abby Graves with 11 and Taylor Ralph with 10.

Vicky Shimbashi led the Rebels with 12 points and Abby Wood added 10.

Raymond downed Myers 58-42 in the JV game as Drew Armener scored 19 points.

Bryann Jones led Myers with 11.

4A BOYS

Raymond Comets outlasted Medicine Hat High Mohawks 109-90 in Southern Alberta 4A Boys Basketball League play on Tuesday.

Jeter Heggie led the Comets with 29 points and Brady Baines added 23. Payson Hill and Liam Davison chipped in with 19 and 18 respectively.

Ethan Egert replied with 23 points for the Mohawks and Aiden Gripp added 20.

In junior varsity play, Medicine Hat edged Raymond 63-61 as Gryffin Evans scored 15 points and Jayce Smith and Ty Aasman added 12 apiece.

West James led Raymond with 20 points and Mason Leavitt added 12.

In other action, Magrath Zeniths topped the LCI Rams 97-87 behind 34 points from Dray Walburger and 23 from Mason Hoffman.

Garrett Procee led the Rams with 21 points while Tanner French and Marshall Scott added 17 and 14 respectively.

LCI defeated Magrath 58-46 in the JV contest as Crew Hirsche scored 13 points and Carson Procee added 10.

Ty Michelson replied with 11 for Magrath.
