A third-period outburst earned the Lethbridge midget AAA Hurricanes a 2-0 weekend on the road.
The Hurricanes snapped a 2-2 tie after 40 minutes with three tallies in the final 20 minutes en route to a 5-2 win over the Edmonton SSAC Boston Pizza Athletics Sunday afternoon in Edmonton.
The win came 24 hours after a 4-2 win in Lloydminster over the Inland Steel Bobcats and puts the Canes two games above .500 at 10-8-1, good for fourth place in the South Division.
On Sunday, D.J. Tonin struck for the game-winner 4:11 into the third before Cole Larocque and Rylen Roersma added a little insurance.
Brogan Booth and Hayden Prosofsky scored in the first for Lethbridge for a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes before the Athletics scored twice in the second.
Booth and Roersma each added an assist for a two-point outing.
J.D. Hall added two helpers for the Canes. Goaltender Marek Andres turned in a 20-save performance to record the win.
Lethbridge scored twice in the second and third Saturday in Lloydminster to earn the win.
Booth scored twice to set up his four-point weekend and Larocque and Roersma added the other Hurricanes goals.
Larocque and Roersma also had an assist for two points.
Ty Young got the start in goal for Lethbridge, making 29 saves.
The Hurricanes are back home this weekend.
On Saturday they host the Edmonton CAC Gregg Distributors at 3 p.m. at the Logan Boulet Arena. The Canes are back at the Logan Boulet Arena Sunday when the Leduc Chrysler Oil Kings come to town. Game time is 11:45 a.m.
The games are the last Hurricanes home games before the New Year.
