The University of Lethbridge Pronghorns women’s hockey team have added to their roster for next season.
With a glance toward the 2020-21 Canada West season, the Horns announced the signing of forward Madeleine Noonan, the third to commit to the program next season.
She joins current teammate with the Calgary Fire Emma Neff whose commitment to the Pronghorns was announced earlier this month. Noonan is also the younger sister of current Pronghorn Rose Noonan.
“Maddy’s attitude, work ethic and the pace she plays at stands out every time she is on the ice,” said Pronghorn head coach Doug Paisley in a release. “She is a relentless fore-checker and back-checker that hounds the pucks and contributes to her team both offensively and defensively.
“Maddy’s commitment to improving her individual hockey skills over and above what she does with her club team and her drive and desire to get better every day will make her an impactful player for us as soon as she joins the team.”
Noonan has two goals and two assists in 14 games with the Calgary Fire in the Alberta Female Hockey League this season.
Last season with the Fire, the five-foot-four forward had eight goals and four assists in 30 games. She also participated in the Alberta Hockey U18 Summer Camp this past summer.
A multi-sport athlete, Noonan has participated in both track and field and lacrosse.
In 2017 she made Team Alberta for lacrosse, participating in nationals in Halifax and helping Alberta win a bronze medal. She has also been a member of three provincial championship teams in female box lacrosse.
In addition to Noonan and Neff, Mallory Dyer is the third member of the Pronghorns 2020-21 recruiting class after committing to the Pronghorns in October.
The 7-8-0-1 Pronghorns open the second half of the Canada West season Jan. 3-4 when they host the Regina Cougars at Nicholas Sheran Arena.
