Cougars squeeze past Zeniths in boys’ basketball

Cardston Cougars held off the Magrath Zeniths 90-87 in Southern Alberta 4A Boys Basketball League play on Tuesday.

Isaac Atwood led the Cougars with 22 points and Rhett Lewis added 19 while Braxen Scott and Graedon Woodward chipped in with 13 and 12 respectively.

Cody Tollestrup replied with 23 points for the Zeniths while Mason Hoffman had 19 points and Colton Finck and Dray Walburger had 11 each.

In junior varsity play, Cardston downed Magrath 86-64 as Mitch Francis scored 18 points and Hyrum Scott added 17.

Levi Balderson led Magrath with 14 points while Ethan Clukey and Ty Michelson added 12.

In other action, the LCI Rams rolled to a 93-58 win over the Catholic Central Cougars as Tanner French led the way with 17 points, followed by Garrett Procee with 16 and Asher Bridge with 12.

Josh Crawford scored 16 points in a losing cause while Raphael Batingal and Tate Stroud added 10 apiece.

LCI downed CCH 75-66 in the JV contest behind 18 points from Carson Procee and 11 from Jace Edwards.

Sebastian Plarisan replied with 13 for CCH while Riley Mcloud added 12 and Patrick Bulger 11.

Raymond Comets defeated the Chinook Coyotes 86-59 as Jeter Heggie tossed in 21 points and Brady Baines added 19. Boston Harker followed with 17 points while Liam Davison and Payson Hill had 12 each.

Karson Valgardson replied with 23 points for the Coyotes while Jared Rollingson added 14.

Raymond topped Chinook 88-64 in JV play as Ryker Dewsbury scored 15 points and Reuben Baldry and Ashton Witbeck added 14 apiece. West James and Josh Runquist chipped in with 12 each.

Khan Ismail led Chinook with 18 points.
