Mixed results for AA bantam, peewee teams

The Lethbridge Headwater bantam AA Hurricanes and Cranbrook Hornets have been getting well-acquainted lately.

Playing their third straight game against each other, the Hurricanes downed the Hornets 3-1 in South Central Alberta Hockey League play Saturday night at Henderson Arena.

The win moves the Canes past the Medicine Hat Hounds and into third place in the South Division.

Ashton Angle and Easton Banda had a goal and an assist each for the Hurricanes and Daillon Kryzanowski added the other goal.

Canes goaltender Preston Walker earned the victory.

The Lethbridge Bert and Macs peewee AA Hurricanes Red lost a pair of games last weekend.

The Canes were blanked 3-0 by the Cranbrook Wings Friday night in Lethbridge and fell to the Okotoks Green 6-3 Saturday Okotoks.

On Friday, the Wings led 1-0 going into the third period before adding two more.

The Hurricanes trailed 2-1 after the first period in Saturday’s game in Okotoks before the Green pulled away.

Dominic Grieco, Grant Gliege and Parker Gamble scored for the Canes on Saturday.

Grieco’s goal moves him past the 30-point mark and into the top 10 in league scoring.

The Hurricanes are in Nanton Saturday to face the Foothills Bisons in their final game before Christmas.
