Midget Hurricanes fall to Buffaloes at Macs Tournament

The Lethbridge midget AAA Hurricanes are 1-2-1 at the Mac’s AAA Hockey Tournament.

The Canes were defeated 4-1 by the Calgary Buffaloes in their final game of the round-robin portion of the tournament Sunday afternoon in Calgary.

With the loss, the Hurricanes are tied for third in Pool 1 with Bars Academy from Russia.

The Buffaloes led 1-0 after two periods of play before sealing the win in the third period.

A scoresheet was unavailable at press time.

On Saturday, the Canes skated to a 3-3 tie with the Prince Albert Mintos.

Cole Larocque scored twice for Lethbridge and D.J. Tonin added the other Hurricanes goal.

Canes goaltender Mark Andres stopped 17 of 20 shots in the tie.

The Hurricanes started the tournament with a 4-1 win over the Sherwood Park Ennis Kings Thursday, but fell 3-1 to AK Bars Academy Friday.

AK Bars Academy completes their round-robin schedule today at 9 a.m. against Sherwood Park.
