Coyotes knock off Cougars

Chinook Coyotes downed the Catholic Central Cougars 86-67 as Southern Alberta 4A Boys Basketball League play resumed on Tuesday after the Christmas break.

Jared Rollingson led all scorers with 28 points for the Coyotes while Aiden Doyle and Gabe Montgomery added 12 and 10 respectively.

Tate Stroud replied with 17 points for the Cougars while Daniel Marcic was next with 16 and Cole Friesen added 14.

In junior varsity play, CCH upended Chinook 70-37 as Riley McLoud led the winners with 15 points and Derek Trapp added 14. Patrick Bulger and Zach Gray chipped in with 11 and 10 points respectively.

Lorenzo Blood replied with 10 points for Chinook.

In other action, Magrath Zeniths outlasted the LCI Rams 89-76 as Dray Walburger scored 28 points and Mason Hoffman added 22. Cody Tollestrup chipped in with 17 points and Chayse Harris added 11.

Rams were led by Tanner French with 20 points, followed by Marshall Scott with 14, David Kindley with 12 and Garrett Procee with 10.

Magrath defeated LCI 79-68 in JV play as Levi Balderson hit for 22 points and Ty Michelson and Sean Gold added 12 and 11 respectively.

Crew Hirsche replied with 13 for LCI while Carson Procee was next with 12, followed by Jace Edwards, Mason Tanner and Ty Nielsen with 10 apiece.

At Raymond, the host Comets had four players with over 20 points as they defeated the Medicine Hat Mohawks 107-91.

Boston Harker led the Comets with 27 points while Jeter Heggie and Brady Baines added 21 apiece with Drake Still contributing 20. Payson Hill was next with 11.

Ethan Egert replied with 26 points for the Mohawks and Elijah Bauchie Kaba added 18.

Raymond downed the Hat 82-55 in the JV contest as Konnor Kanyo tossed in 16 points, followed by West James and Jacob MacDonnell with 15 and 13 respectively.

Jayce Smith scored 13 points in a losing cause and Connor Appell added 10.
