The Lethbridge Hurricanes were silent on the second-last day of the Western Hockey League deadline, but a pair of former Hurricanes were on the move.
One of them was in a blockbuster as former Canes defenceman Nolan Jones was part of a package along with goaltender Brock Gould and forward Logan Doust that were shipped from the Victoria Royals to the Moose Jaw Warriors Thursday afternoon in exchange for Anaheim Ducks prospect Brayden Tracey and goaltender Adam Evanoff.
Also headed to Moose Jaw are the Royals first-round draft pick in the 2021 WHL bantam draft, a second-round pick in 2022, a third-round pick in 2020 and a fourth-rounder in 2022.
The Warriors sent their fourth-round pick in 2020 and their fifth-round selection in 2023 to complete the deal.
The move sends Jones to his hometown Moose Jaw. In 30 games in Victoria this season, the six-foot-two, 180-pound defenceman had one goal and six points.
Tracey had 15 goals and 38 points in 28 games in Moose Jaw.
Another former Hurricane was on the move Thursday as the Kelowna Rockets shipped forward Jadon Joseph to the Tri-City Americans for a conditional sixth-round pick in the 2022 draft.
Elsewhere, the Prince Albert Raiders made a move to bolster their crease, acquiring goaltender Max Paddock from the Regina Pats for forward Jakob Brook, a second-round pick in 2020 and a conditional third-round pick in 2022.
Paddock, 19, was 10-13-3-2 with two shutouts for the Pats. He had a 3.31 goals-against average and .905 save percentage.
The Calgary Hitmen and Everett Silvertips swung a deal Thursday as the Hitmen sent right winger Hunter Campbell to Everett for left winger Conrad Mitchell and a sixth-round pick in this year’s bantam draft.
The Hitmen then sent a fifth-round pick in 2020 to the Spokane Chiefs for forward Connor Gabruch.
The Warriors pulled the trigger on another deal earlier Thursday, sending Libor Zabransky to the Kamloops Blazers for Martin Lang.
Later Thursday afternoon, the Vancouver Giants acquired centre Eric Florchuk from the Saskatoon Blades in exchange for fellow centre Evan Patrician, a first-round pick in 2020 and a second-round pick in 2021. Also headed to Vancouver is a seventh-round pick in 2021.
The Prince George Cougars got in on the dealings late Thursday.
The Cougars sent defenceman Rhett Rhinehart and a third-round pick in 2020 to the Blades in exchange for defenceman Majid Kaddoura, Jayden Watson and a first-round pick in 2020.
Prince George then sent right winger Reid Perepeluk to the Brandon Wheat Kings for left winger Jonny Hooker.
