A new football club is in the process of starting in Lethbridge and will be called the Vipers.
The Lethbridge Junior Football Club, which will be part of the Canadian Junior Football League, will create a home for local athletes to continue their football dreams, as well as their education, and will attract student athletes to Lethbridge.
The Lethbridge Junior Football Club’s application with the Prairie Football Conference has been received, logistical discussions are underway and the club is proceeding with the support of the City of Lethbridge, local MLA Nathan Neudorf and the Lethbridge Sport Council.
The Lethbridge Junior Football Club’s first season is anticipated to begin in the summer of 2022. The Vipers are still looking for volunteer board members at this time.
The team’s home field will be the University of Lethbridge Community Stadium.
The Canadian Junior Football League is a national amateur Canadian football league consisting of 18 teams currently playing in five provinces across Canada.
The teams compete annually for the Canadian Bowl with numerous CJFL players having gone on to professional football careers in the CFL and elsewhere.
The goal of the league is to foster community involvement and yield a positive environment by teaching discipline, perseverance and co-operation.
