U16 AAA Canes win on home ice

The Lethbridge Headwater U16 AAA midget Hurricanes scored a home ice win on the weekend.

In their only game of the exhibition season, the Hurricanes doubled the Medicine Hat South East SEAC Tigers 4-2 in Alberta Elite Hockey League Saturday afternoon at the Logan Boulet Arena.

The Canes opened a 2-0 lead after two periods and went up 3-0 early in the third.

The Tigers cut the lead to 3-2 by the midway point of the third, but Lethbridge’s Health Hanson added an insurance marker with 4:25 left on the power play to hand the Canes the win.

Ashton Angle, Brett Hudey and Ben Adserballe scored the other Lethbridge goals. Adserballe added an assist for a two-point afternoon.

Joseph Hackett and Jacob Hazzard replied for the Tigers.

Thomas MacLean got the start for the Hurricanes, stopping all 16 shots he faced. Ryan DeKok, came in midway through the third, kicking out 17 of 19 shots.

The Hurricanes begin the regular season on Saturday and Sunday in Medicine Hat against the Tigers.

Their first home game of the regular season is Nov. 7 against the Tigers at 3 p.m. at the Logan Boulet Arena.
