OBIHIRO, Japan – Danielle Serdachny scored 44 seconds into overtime on Saturday to lift Canada to a 4-3 win over Russia and into the gold medal final at the IIHF women’s under-18 world championship.
Canada will play the United States in the championship match on Sunday.
Alexie Guay had a goal and an assist for the Canadians and Julia Gosling and Nicole Kelly also scored.
Anna Savonina, Ilona Markova and Yelena Provorova, with the tying goal midway through the third period, scored for Russia.
Raygan Kirk made 10 saves in the Canadian net. Daria Gredzen stopped 26 shots for Russia.
