QMJHL Roundup: Tigres down Drakkar 4-3 to remain unbeaten to begin season

BAIE-COMEAU, Que. – Olivier Coulombe had a goal and an assist, and the Victoriaville Tigres downed the Baie-Comeau Drakkar 4-3 on Friday to remain unbeaten to open the 2020-21 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League season.

Mikhail Abramov and Maxime Pellerin scored 23 seconds apart in the second period to give Victoriaville a 4-1 lead, while Nicolas Daigle also potted a goal to help the Tigres (3-0-0) begin the season with three straight victories.

Nathael Roy, Nathan Legare and Antoine Rochon supplied the offence for the Drakkar (1-2-0).

Nikolas Hurtubise made 26 saves for Victoriaville while Lucas Fitzpatrick kicked out 25-of-29 shots for Baie-Comeau.

BATHURST, N.B. – Chad Arsenault stopped 49-of-50 shots, but was beaten once in regulation by Joshua Roy, and again by Roy in the shootout as Saint John (1-1-1) edged Arsenault’s Titan (2-0-1).

SYDNEY, N.S. – Ben Boyd scored the first of four third-period goals for his team just 16 second in, and Charlottetown (3-0-0) topped Cape Breton (1-2-0) for its third win in a row.

WILDCATS 4 MOOSEHEADS 2

HALIFAX – Jacob Stewart struck twice, and Dakota Lund-Cornish made 20 saves as Moncton (1-2-0) doubled up the Mooseheads (1-1-1) for its first win of the season.

VOLTIGEURS 2 FOREURS 1 (OT)

DRUMMONDVILLE, Que. – Luke Woodworth scored at 2:34 of overtime, and Francesco Lapenna stopped 20 shots as the Voltigeurs (2-0-1) slipped past Val-d’Or (1-0-2).

CATARACTES 5 OCEANIC 4 (SO)

SHAWINIGAN, Que. – Olivier Nadeau forced overtime with a goal at 8:05 of the third, while Xavier Bourgault and Vasily Ponomarev scored in the shootout, and the Cataractes (2-1-0) kept Rimouski (0-2-1) winless.

OLYMPIQUES 3 HUSKIES 2

GATINEAU, Que. – Remi Poirier turned away 31-of-33 shots and Manix Landry had a goal and a helper to lead the Olympiques (2-1-0) past Rouyn-Noranda (1-2-0).
