Ben Perry is joining fellow Canadian rider Hugo Houle on the Astana Pro Team next year.
The 26-year-old from St. Catharines, Ont., has been riding for the Israel Start-Up Nation team.
“I look forward to competing in the world’s most illustrious races, in a team that has a strong history and culture,” Perry said in a statement Friday. “I want to make an impression on the team straight away and demonstrate my capabilities as a complete and consistent rider.”
Perry signed a one-year deal with Astana. Houle, a 30-year-old native of Sainte-Perpetue, Que., who joined the team in 2018, is signed through 2022.
Other new Astana signings are Italy’s Samuele Battistella, Andrea Piccolo and Matteo Sobrero, South Africa’s Stefan de Bod and Spain’s Javier Romo.
The Astana Pro Team is changing its name to Astana Premier Tech on Jan. 1.
