The Lethbridge Hurricanes officially clinched a playoff spot after blanking the Saskatoon Blades 2-0 to start a four-game road trip on Tuesday night.
The Canes only needed a point to clinch their spot in the 2025 Western Hockey League postseason.
Chase Petersen scored his second of the season 12:35 into the first period to give the Canes a 1-0 lead. Vojtech Port and Logan McCutcheon notched the assists.
McCutcheon then scored shorthanded 2:14 into the second period to give Lethbridge a 2-0 lead and all the offence they would need on the evening.
Luke Cozens and Brayden Edwards assisted on McCutcheon’s eight goal of the year.
Lethbridge went 0-for-2 and Saskatoon went 0-for-6 on the powerplay.
The Blades outshot the Canes 29-27 in the game.
This is the eighth straight year the Canes have made the playoffs.
Lethbridge visits the Prince Albert Raiders tonight at 6 p.m.
