Canada halts second tariff wave after Trump announces pause on some duties

WASHINGTON — Finance Minister Dominic LeBlanc says Canada has suspended a second wave of retaliatory tariffs after U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order today to pause some duties on Canada.
LeBlanc posted on social media that Canada will not proceed with planned retaliatory tariffs on $125 billion worth of U.S. products and will continue to push the Trump administration to drop all tariffs.
Trump signed an executive order today pausing tariffs on some Canadian imports linked to the auto industry and lowering levies on potash to 10 per cent.
It was not immediately clear exactly what would be included in the exemptions.
Markets have been in turmoil since Trump followed through Tuesday on his threat to impose sweeping economy-wide tariffs on Canada and Mexico, with a lower 10 per cent levy on Canadian energy.
Trump says there will be “a little short term interruption” but he doesn’t “think it will be big.”

Better news for Canadians would be repealing the carbon tax. 21% .That’s
ANOTHER 21% increase to the already abhorrent carbon tax that’s killing Canada’s economy.
I think we all must remember that Trumps reign of terror will end in 4 years at the most and we must not burn the bridges of our friends we have in the US who do not agree with the tariffs. Using nuclear responses at this point would not be strategic or wise for long term relationships with the US.
We must be careful to use common sense and not allow emotions or social media to cause us to damage our relationship to a point it will take decades to repair. This is not like a divorce with no kids involved, where we can walk away, move away, etc., but a relationship we need to work with in the future! Having a good working relationship with the US is vital, just as the US working with Canada is vital!
We are very lucky that we are not Ukraine, who Trump is trying to steal their precious metals, offering nothing for them, not even protection from Russia!
I question how this man, surrounded with self proclaimed white supremists, such as Musk who is supporting Israel at this time, how can a white supremist support Jews? Does he have some devious plan for Israel and is sucking their leadership into a relationship just to turn on them as he did Ukraine? Is he using Israel to achieve some goal, and once done then he will move on Israel? I am still trying to figure how this man who is President can proclaim he is a Christian, when he doesn’t close his eyes while others do in prayer, or state, Jesus Christ is Lord as others, but more importantly, look at his rape charges, etc.
Sorry but even Satan quotes scriptures as we read in the Bible, so I have little trust in him. I would hope that from all of this we will see a major action on our drug problem, but that won’t happen with the Liberals in power!

Canada will face the most hit for tourism income, lower exports, essential imports, and the big one, our military procurements and parts needed to keep our equipment acquired from the US maintained. We are going to be hit much harder! Be prepared! Along with the difference in population, we must consider how many US companies operate in Canada.
