Hitmen even series with Canes

Ben Kindel scored the overtime winner 6:08 into the first overtime to lift the Calgary Hitmen to a 3-2 Game 4 victory over the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Wednesday night at VisitLethbridge.Com Arena.

The Hitmen evened the series at two with the win.

“I thought we chased it a little bit but we came back (and) made it 1-1 (and) made it 2-2,” said Bill Peters, Canes head coach.

“(I)thought we had some  real good looks, I thought our second period was much better than the previous evening, so some positives to take out of it also.”

Peters added that there were contributions from throughout the  line-up.

Peters spoke about how they prepare for Game 5 on Friday night. 

“There’s not a lot of secrets this time of year between the two teams,” said Peters.

“So everyone knows what’s expected and what’s required.”

Calgary’s Oliver Tulk got the scoring started when he finished off a 2-on-1 with Kindel 3:13 into the first.

David Adaszynski also got an assist on Tulk’s third goal of playoffs. 

Noah Chadwick got the Canes back on even terms when he wired it in from the point on the powerplay 8:30 into the first period from Miguel Marques and Brayden Yager. 

Brandon Gorzynski tipped in a shot on the powerplay 16:04 into the second to give Calgary a 2-1 lead.

Sawyer Mynio and Kalem Parker got the assists. 

Trae Johnson showed some good hand-eye coordination in front of the net to tip in a Grady Pichette shot from the blue line to tie the game at two 5:18 into the third period. 

Carsen Adair also got an assists on Johnson’s goal. 

Lethbridge went 1-for-3 on the powerplay.

Lethbridge outshot Calgary 34-24 in the game 

The road team has won each of the four games in the series. 

Game 5 goes Friday night in Calgary at and Game 6 is Saturday back in Lethbridge.
