Now graduated Lethbridge Hurricanes defenceman Logan McCutcheon will continue his hockey career as a student-athlete beginning this fall.
McCutcheon has committed to suiting up in the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) with the Quinnipiac University Bobcats beginning in the 2025-2026 season.
““It’s a great hockey school; they love their hockey at [Quinnipiac] and it’s a good program that won it a couple of years
ago, so I think it’s really exciting and I just want to go there, step up and establish myself, it’s something that I’m really
excited for,” said McCutcheon, in a press release.
“It’s going to be different; there is a lot of excitement and definitely some nerves, so it’ll be
a change, but I think I’ll adjust well and have a good time,”
The 21-year-old Saskatoon product wrapped up his six-year WHL career with 299 regular season games, 147 points, (23 goals, 124 assists) and in 28 playoff games had 10 points .
His games played sit fifth all-time and second among all defencemen in team history.
McCutcheon had nine goals and 38 points, as well as 10 penalty minutes and a plus/minus of +19 which were all career highs.
““Being a Hurricane meant everything to me,” added McCutcheon.
“Ever since the draft, I was welcomed by everyone here and to be able to be a Hurricane for my entire career, I couldn’t have asked for it any other way. It’s been unbelievable.”
The McCutcheon commitment wasn’t the only Canes news on Monday, as defenceman Vojtech Port signed on to play pro with Czechia HC Vitkovice beginning next season.
