Our hearts are filled with love and warm beautiful memories because of the efforts Ian (Dad) put into his and our lives. Born on June 18th, 1934, in Bexhill, Sussex England, Ian grew up as an only child to his mom Winifred and father Thomas. Family meant everything to him, so he dedicated his life to raising the best possible family unit. He was the most amazing husband and wonderful father. His love for travel and food saw him planning the next family vacation or event, usually on the heels of finishing up the previous one.
Ian and his loving wife Mary Ann (a nurse at Penticton Hospital) were married in Penticton in 1959, prompting a beautiful family. He is survived by Mary Ann and four children Greg (Robyn), Vicki (Dan), Glenn (Carrie), Geoff and his one grandson, Harrison.
Ian was educated in Victoria B.C where he earned his Chartered Accountant Degree in 1957. He moved from Edmonton to Lethbridge in 1963 where he joined Williams Tanner Bell Chartered Accountants (now KPMG) as a partner. He was awarded his FCA by the Alberta Institute of Chartered Accountants in 1994. He retired in 1995 to enjoy time with his golf buddies and be reunited with his old Kinsmen friends.
Besides serving numerous committees of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, he also served on the board of many local organizations including Lethbridge Pre School Services, Yate Memorial Theatre, Lethbridge Musical Theatre, McKillop United Church, Lethbridge Kinsmen Club, Lethbridge Swim Club, United Way, Canadian Cancer Society, University of Lethbridge Foundation, Southern Alberta Rehabilitation Society and the Lethbridge Community Foundation.
He will be joining his parents, granddaughter Sally, brother-in-law Andy, parent-in-laws, good friends and family members who have paved the way to greet him.

SCHIKOWSKY, Peter “Pete” SCHIKOWSKY It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our father, son, brother and partner, PETER “PETE” NELSON SCHIKOWSKY, on Friday, May 2, 2025 at the age of 47 years.
Pete is survived by his son Kaydince, his beloved partner Michelle, his sisters Stacy (Aaron) and Michelle, numerous aunts/uncles and cousins and his incredible mother Marlene.
He was predeceased by his amazing father Bernie.
Pete was born on October 10th, 1977 in Chilliwack, BC. His big sisters were pleased as everyone else got a turkey for Thanksgiving and they got a baby brother! Pete spent his formative years in Lethbridge, AB attending school, being active in sports, working and enjoying life. Pete played baseball from early childhood into adulthood and loved the game. Pete practiced judo when younger and was on the Alberta Provincial Team.
Pete’s love of cars came at a very young age and permeated his life. He worked as a service advisor for many years for both Dunlop Ford and College Ford. Over the years, Pete has been the proud owner of too many cars and trucks to count.
In 2002, Pete and Julie’s son Kaydince was born and the whole family fell in love immediately. Kaydince is all the best parts of his father and looks so much like Pete that Pete’s workmates used to call them “Pete and repeat”. He was so proud of his son and loved him immensely.
In 2018, Pete began a relationship with his love, Michelle. Pete and Michelle’s life together was filled with humour (such a fun and funny couple to be around), love, joy and travel. Together, they travelled the world, enjoying new experiences wherever they went. The love they shared was something to behold.
Pete had a soft spot for a big dog with a sad story. He adopting many dogs throughout his life, shared his love, his home and his pay check with his fur babies.
Pete was kind-hearted and loyal. This is evidenced by his many close life-long friendships. He was generous, caring, positive and supportive. He was all the awesome adjectives in the dictionary. Pete was a very bright light of a large and loving extended family and we will miss him every day.
A Celebration to honour Pete’s life will be held at the AGRI-FOOD HUB & TRADE CENTRE, 101 Exhibition Way South, Lethbridge, AB, on Saturday, May 24, 2025 from 12:00 Noon till 3:00 P.M.
