LOTHIAN, John LOTHIAN JOHN LOTHIAN, of Taber, beloved husband of Maria Lothian, passed away peacefully, at the Chinook Regional Hospital, on Friday, June 6, 2025 at the age of 87 years, having lived a life marked by quiet strength, deep love, and a well-maintained set of golf clubs.
Born on January 5, 1938, in Shaughnessy, Alberta, John is survived by his beloved wife Maria, his partner in life for an incredible 64 years. Together, they raised four children – John Jr., Shelley, Sherry, and Greg – who knew him as a steady and loving presence in their lives. John Jr. lives in Lethbridge, Shelley lives in Fonthill, Ontario with her husband Mark and their two children Jackson (Ania) and Sam (Kassandra). Sherry lives in Calgary with her husband Rob and their two children Brenden and Sean (Julia). Greg lives in Lethbridge with his wife Crystal and their two children Finley (Carter) and Calyn. John is also survived by his brother Don Lothian, Frieda and Bob Sanford and his many nephews and nieces.
John was predeceased by his parents Robert and Ivy Lothian, his in-laws Peter and Frieda Husch, his sisters Jessie Pearson, Nan Leonard, Janet Baker, Bobbie Jones and his brother Bob Lothian.
John was the kind of man who didn’t need much to be happy – just his family, a tidy garage, and a sunny day on the golf course. For 35 years, he worked with dedication and humility at Canadian Natural Gas Company (ATCO), a job he did with care, consistency, and without fanfare. He was a man of few words but endless reliability – the kind of person who always read the manual, changed the oil on time, and could somehow make anything last twice as long as it should. His six grandchildren were lucky to call him Grandpa, and will carry on his quiet wisdom, his gentle humour, and maybe even his short game.
We are gathering at PARKBRIDGE ESTATES COMMUNITY CENTRE, 2927 – 29 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, on Monday, June 16th , 2025, from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. to celebrate John’s life. The community centre is located immediately upon entering into Parkbridge Estates.

CLARKE, Loraine CLARKE LORAINE CAROLINE CLARKE, of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at the Chinook Regional Hospital, on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at the age of 85 years. Her quiet departure marked the close of a life, filled with kindness, devotion, and joy.
Born in Fort Macleod on April 5,1940, Loraine was the youngest of four children born to Leah and William Clarke. As a young girl, she was active in “Job’s Daughters Bethel #3” in Fort Macleod and later joined the Order of the Eastern Star #53, where she built lifelong friendships. Loraine dedicated over 30 years of her life working in the food services department at the Fort Macleod Hospital, from 1957 until her retirement in 1988. She found great joy in the simple pleasures of life, like baking her unforgettable Christmas shortbread, various crafts, and going on family picnics to Waterton. After her mother’s passing in 2000, Loraine continued to reside in their cherished home, accompanied by her little “barking dog” Missy. Her generous spirit and creative touch lived on in thoughtful gestures such as volunteering at the Fort Museum, knitting handmade scarves for the Charlie Brown Christmas Tree, and helping to fill shoe boxes that are sent overseas.
In 2007, Loraine moved to The View and then to The Pemican Lodge, where she became a beloved part of both communities and had a handful of very dear friends. Visits with Loraine were always heartfelt and filled with curious questions about your life, and a proud display of the latest addition to her ceramic pig collection.
Loraine was predeceased by her father William Clarke, mother Leah (née Chester), older sister Evelyn (Jack) Cullen and older brother Norman (Joan) Clarke.
She is lovingly remembered by her older sister Leola (Norman) Baird, her daughter Cathy Radermacher of Victoria and her three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Shay, and Becky. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, for whom she was never just “Auntie Loraine” but simply “Auntie”, a cherished figure in their lives.
One of Loraine’s favorite hymns was “Abide With Me”. As Loraine now walks in the presence of her Lord, steady and gentle, she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Graveside Service for family and close friends will be held at in Archmount Cemetery this fall.
In memory of Loraine, donations may be made to STARS Air Ambulance (stars.ca), honoring her life of service and care for others.
