The Lethbridge 14U Junior Bulls are set to host the country’s best teams for that  level during  the Junior Canadian Little League Championship this week  at Spitz Stadium.

“The kids have worked super hard over the last three or four months here to get ready for this tournament,” said Will Sharpe, 14U Bulls head coach.

“It’s really awesome that Lethbridge gets to host this tournament each year because it allows a lot of the young talent in Lethbridge to have the opportunity to play in it.”

The Junior Bulls will face unfamiliar provincial representatives from B.C., Quebec, Ontario and another opponent from Alberta, and a lot of the preparation has come from what the coaches have been preaching all year long in doing things with intent and purpose and  staying relaxed in the field.

“ If they can just stay relaxed and have fun while they’re playing, that is the best way that they can prepare right now,” said Sharpe.

From Sharpe’s perspective, the Junior Bulls will compete with the other teams if they play the right way.

“I think that with the quality of teams that we’ve played so far this year, I think that they understand that,” said Sharpe.

“So as long as they can play how they have been all season, I think that they’re going to be set up to hopefully have some success.”

The Junior Bulls success with begin on the mound with pitching.

“If we’re able to go out there and we’re able to throw strikes, and let our defence shine and go to work, I think that will be the key to our success,” said Sharpe.

Sharpe has confidence in the team that they can win the championship.

“They’re a fun group to be around and they always play with a bit of a chip on their shoulder, which I love the most about them,” he said.

The Junior Bulls finished the season with a 27-19-2 record and had a stretch in there where they went 17-3.

Lethbridge opens against the B.C. representative tomorrow at 1 p.m.

The JCLLC runs from July 23-29 at Spitz Stadium.

The annual championship will be hosted at a new site in 2026 and 2027 as a decision was made to waive it for those years in Lethbridge.

The winner will earn a spot at the Junior Little League World Series in Taylor, Mich. from Aug. 3-10.
