KARL, Reinhold REINHOLD KARL 1932 ~ 2025 Mr. Reinhold Karl of Foremost, beloved husband of Mrs. Isobel Karl, passed away at St. Therese Villa on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at the age of 93 years.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 1:00pm at the FOREMOST COMMUNITY HALL, 802 1 Ave W, Foremost, AB T0K 0X0, with Pastor Carolyn Langford officiating.

MCLAFFERTY, John MCLAFFERTY, JOHN ROBERT NEIL John Robert Neil McLafferty age 81 passed away at Lethbridge AB August 22, 2025 with both daughters at his side. Born September 30, 1943 in Simcoe ON to Mary Lilian Longhurst (Lil) McLafferty and John Gerard (Jack) McLafferty.
John was raised in Boharm SK, then Moose Jaw SK, graduating from St Louis College. He left for Calgary to attend SAIT for Electrical Engineering. After accepting a job with GE Industries in Guelph ON, he checked a map and moved to begin his career. There he met Mary Anne Dorothy McKenzie, and they married September 13, 1969. The family moved to Kirkland Lake ON, where John taught at Northern College for 13 years, then to Nelson BC. In 2000 they moved to John’s hometown of Moose Jaw, John retired from teaching Computer Engineering at SIAST in 2012.
John is survived by daughters Kama McLafferty and Taryn McLafferty; grandchildren Kelsey, Kathryn (Josh) and Rayne, Stone, Hank, and Ember, and his sister Judith. John was predeceased by daughter Dorian, his parents, and his wife. Arrangements are taking place with immediate family, and a memorial in Moose Jaw will occur at a later date.

AMBROZIC, Mirko MIRKO AMBROZIC 1933 ~ 2025 It is with great sadness that the family of Mirko (Mike) Ambrozic announce his passing on Thursday August 21, 2025.

COOK, Bessie COOK Bessie Taylor Cook, age 86, of Magrath, passed away August 22, 2025 in Magrath Alberta.
Bessie is survived by her husband of 66 years, James Cook, and five children: Cam (Debbie) Cook, Byrne (Dari) Cook, Alison (Monte) Bourne, Ron (Leisha) Cook, and Mindy (Ryan) Blackmore. She is also survived by twenty grandchildren and twenty-six great grandchildren.
She was born February 25, 1939, daughter of Walter and Lillian Taylor and was the oldest of five children: Shirley, Robert, John and Kim. She learned to sing and play the violin, and loved spending time with her Aunt Frances and Uncle Willie. She excelled in school and after graduation took training in Edmonton to be a Medical/Dental Secretary.
She married James Cook in the Cardston Temple August 26, 1959. Together they moved back to the farm full-time in 1964, and spent the next 61 years there.
Above all, Bessie was a hard worker. She laboured every summer in their huge garden, canning and preserving for the winter, one of her specialties being her Choke Cherry syrup.
She was a skilled seamstress sewing numberless dresses and quilts, and enjoyed doing handiwork. Her grandchildren cherish the baby blankets she lovingly provided for them
She was an excellent cook, her specialities including an unduplicated chop suey and the hundreds of egg salad sandwiches for those trips to the ridge.
Bessie’s life was built upon a foundation of faith, family and service. A life long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, she served faithfully in many capacities including several years as a Blazer Scout leader, Young Women’s president and multiple positions in the Relief Society. Bessie sang in a trio with Charlotte Fletcher and Marie Stevenson accompanied by Carol Lowry at what seemed like every funeral and wedding. In her later years with her husband Jim, she served missions to the Bishops Storehouse and the Del Bonita Branch.
Bessie was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother and lived her life with grace and dignity. She leaves a remarkable legacy for her posterity who miss her greatly and will treasure her memory.
A Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday August 27 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, Magrath Stake Centre. Friends can meet the family prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Interment to follow at the Magrath Cemetery.

CHALMERS, Jack CHALMERS Jack William Chalmers, beloved husband of Yvonne Chalmers, passed away on August 25, 2025 at the age of 94 years.
Interment will take place at Magrath Cemetery on Friday, August 29, at 9:30 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at the Coaldale chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2216-21A Avenue. Jerry is survived by his son Andrew Evan Hall and daughter Chantal Bareman; grandchildren Telaine and Evan. He is also survived by his sister Jane (Klaus) Brenner of Taber; sisters-in-law Ann (Wayne) Veenstra and Debbie (Derk) Daniels of Taber; brothers-in-law John Bareman of Taber, Marion Bareman of Taber, Jim (Stephanie) Bareman of Lynden, Washington and by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his first wife Susan (née Bowden) and his second wife Cora (née Bareman); his parents Evan and Eva Hall; in-laws Jack and Catherine Bareman and sisters-in-law Alice and Jeanette Bareman.
Jerry worked for the Sugar Factory for a number of years and spent many years in the oil patch for Pan Canadian and Arc Resources. He was a huge Calgary Flames fan and loved fishing, camping, hunting and the great outdoors. Cora and Jerry spent many years camping, and enjoying the great outdoors.
Jerry suffered a brain injury due to a workplace accident and even though he lost many of his cognitive functions, he remained positive and was grateful for the visits from his family and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff who cared for Jerry for many years and most recently the staff at Linden View for their excellent care of Jerry .

ESQUIVEL, Manolito MANOLITO ESQUIVEL 1952 ~ 2025 Manolito Esquivel passed away on August 20, 2025, just 10 days after his 73rd birthday.
Born August 10, 1952 in Bacoor, Cavite, Philippines to Amaury and Loretta. He was the eldest of 5 children and survived by Ramoncito, Leonora, Lorna and Amaury Jr (Juhn).
He married his first love, Lilia on Sept 20, 1970. Along with his wife and his 3 children, he immigrated to Canada June 1976 where he began working for ITB in Coaldale. He worked there until 2000 where he then ventured into having his own business and purchased 5th Ave Cabs. He then later acquired a second business in 2008 owning Edo Japan and then opening a second location in 2009. Dad always said that this was for the future of all of his grandchildren.
In 2011, He sold 5th Ave shortly after mom passed.
Dad was lucky to find love again with Sheryl whom he spent the rest of his years with. Together they were blessed with a son named Manuelle.
Dad enjoyed fishing, hunting, crabbing, road trips and travelling. He loved spending time with his family. He taught us to be selfless and to always put family first. He demonstrated loyalty and dedication to his family, from learning how to do home dialysis for mom, working double jobs and opening a business to ensure all his grandchildren had something down the road. His love was truly unconditional.
Along with Manolito’s siblings, he is also survived by his wife Sheryl; children Michael (Chrysline), Melanie (Graham), Michelle (Arnold) and Manuelle, Ana and John (Zen); grandchildren Mahlia, Addyson, Gabriel, Anjelica, Madie, Maui, Ickan, Jerickson, Keiane, Toshi, Jona, Jovy and Toby.

A Vigil Rites/Prayer Service will be held at 5:00pm on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 – 4 Street South, Lethbridge.
