Hear ye, hear ye! A grand celebration is upon the community, and all noble hearts are summoned!

The Galt Museum is bidding farewell to summer with its first-ever Renaissance Faire this Saturday (Aug. 30), hosted at Fort Whoop-Up.

“It’s going to have a very intentional historical flair,” says Kristin Krein, community programming co-ordinator. “The medieval Renaissance was 1500 to 1700. We are situating ourselves during that time period, but also within Blackfoot territory. So, what it would have been like here during that time with the standard Renaissance excitement.”

History will come alive as you wander the magical Fort grounds, feast upon delicious fare, brave a tarot card reading, witness as courageous knights duel, try thy hand at archery and plenty more. Of course, your finest Renaissance inspired garments are highly encouraged.

The mirth and merriment will be open to all ages between 12 – 5 p.m. Standard admission to Fort Whoop-Up will grant thee access to the event – no bartering required.

“Renaissance faires are to be experienced! It’s hard to describe the feeling,” according to Krein.

She adds that Lethbridge is already home to an extraordinary community of medieval enthusiasts that will make for an energetic faire.

The Galt will be welcoming feedback from all the lords, ladies, bards and commoners to gauge the overall interest in similar events returning in the future.
