FORESTELL
MRS. CUNEGUNDA “GUNDA” FORESTELL, beloved wife of Mr. Michael Forestell of Lethbridge, passed away
peacefully at home on Sunday, January 26, 2014 after a lengthy illness at the age of 89 years. She left
this world surrounded by love with her beloved husband Michael and most of her family at her bedside.
Mom was born on March 3, 1924 in Viscount, Saskatchewan. She was one of nine children raised on the
family homestead. She leaves behind her husband of 63 years, Michael and seven children: Paul of Vulcan,
Clair (Elaine) of Lethbridge, Brian (Pablo) of Didsbury, Patricia Siray (Brian) of Millarville, Mary Jane
(Katryn) of Vancouver, Michele Coddington (Matt) of Sonoma and Sean (Isabelle)  of San Francisco. She
also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren who all fondly remember Grandma’s
kitchen and especially her Oma buns. As a young woman, her adventurous spirit took her to Lake Louise and
then to New York City. She then met “her Michael” at the family farm. They were married in Saskatoon and
had a wonderful married life for 63 years and were a shining example to us all. After initially living in
Saskatoon, they moved to London, Ontario. Then in 1958 they moved to Lethbridge and have resided here
since. Mom always felt her first calling was as “a child of God”. Her second calling was devotion to her
husband, family and home. She was well loved and will be missed by all who crossed her earthly journey.
We will all remember her gentleness, her humble nature, her joy and especially her great devotion to our
Blessed Mother Mary.

Terry Huzil
1943 – 2014
John Terrence (Terry) Huzil, beloved husband of Shirley Huzil of Lethbridge, passed away at the Chinook
Regional Hospital on January 25, at the age of 70, surrounded by love, peace and warmth.
Terry was born to Mary Elizabeth and John Huzil on July 20, 1943 in the town of Vegreville.  Terry had a
deep passion for hunting at a young age.  He was also a natural story teller and loved to reminisce about
hunting trips with his beloved dog Pug and his time spent at Seattle University.
His strength, intelligence, and integrity naturally led him to a career in law.  Terry graduated from
Queen`s University in 1969, but his heart and love for the prairies brought him back to Alberta to
establish a successful 35 year legal practice and loving family in the city of Lethbridge.
Terry will be dearly missed by son John Torin (Tara) Huzil, twin daughters Jennifer (Riley) Ellis-
Toddington and Tanis (Joshua) Sevrens, their mother Barbara Huzil, stepchildren Barb (Ernie) Coffey and

Drake, and Jordan).  He is also survived by brother Ken (Dodie) Huzil, nephew Jason (Amy) Huzil, and
nieces Keely (Ryan) Archer, Jaci Huzil, and Amanda (Darcy) Vanderham.
Terry will be remembered for his charismatic presence, hearty laugh, pride and tender heart.

Ted Allen
February 28, 1912 – January 23, 2014
It is with great sadness that we mark the passing of Theodore Mynott Allen Jr. He spent a remarkable 101
years on this earth.  He was predeceased by his loving wife Esther and their son Richard.
A private family service will be held with burial at the Taber Memorial Garden. Condolences may be
forwarded by visiting our website at http://www.southlandfuneral.com.
Ted will be fondly remembered by his son Theodore III (Holly) Allen of Calgary and daughter Linda
(Arthur) Olivier of Taber as well as seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and numerous relatives
and friends.
Ted began life in Colfax, Washington, the fourth of five children born to Theodore and Linnie Allen. The
family, including sisters Irene Schonert, Gladys ³Polly² Voorhees, Argyle Voorhees and brother Bill
(Anne) moved to the Taber area in 1918 to farm on the north bank of Chin Coulee. As a young man, Ted
wrangled horses from Skiff to Warner to Lomond. In those days there were no fences. Farmers turned their
horses loose during the winter and trailed them back in the spring.
Ted and Esther met at a country dance held at the Wadena School south of Taber. She had just been hired
as a teacher at Cromwell School south of Taber, and they spent the next sixty six years together. During
his lifetime, he was a farmer, a horseman, a hockey coach and a lifetime member of the Lions Club.
Besides farming, Ted also raised and sold kids¹ ponies. He took great joy in providing a fledgling horse
enthusiast with a reliable equine companion. When there got to be over one hundred horses out on the
coulee, cutting down seemed to be a good idea.
Many of Ted¹s hockey players will remember him as a coach who didn¹t skate. He coached from the bench
following drills published in the Saturday supplement of the Lethbridge Herald. One of his teams reached
Provincial Finals. Not bad for small town Alberta.
Ted, his brother Bill and a few of their friends were instrumental in founding the Taber Lions Club. He
was especially proud of his association with that organization and their affiliation with the CNIB. In
later years his contribution of ³a joke a meeting² became mandatory. He has been awarded the coveted
Melvin Jones award for his contributions and last year was recognized for being the oldest living member
of the Lions Club in the world.
Thoroughbred horses and horse racing became a passion later on in his life. He owned and raced horses
with a number of partners over the years and supported the industry until his death.
Dad¹s philosophy of life was that you should leave the planet a better place for your having been on it.
You done good, Dad.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Ted¹s name may be made directly to charitable cause of one¹s
personal choosing.
Arrangements in care of Southland Funeral Chapel, Taber. Telephone: (403) 223-8778.
