By Canadian Press on September 20, 2025.

PASAY — Canada has been eliminated from the men’s volleyball world championship.

The Canadians fell 3-1 to top-ranked Poland on Saturday to end their tournament.

The Poles took the opening set 25-18 before Canada pushed back to grab the second 25-23, but were unable to keep that momentum going in losing 25-20 and 25-14 to close out the match.

No. 9 Canada held a 52-48 edge in attack points, but made 35 errors compared to Poland’s 16.

Sharone Vernon-Evans topped the scoring chart with 23 points for the Canadians.

The Poles will face Turkey in the quarterfinals.

“Now is the time to take a moment and reflect on what it will take to make that last step to the highest level,” Canadian head coach Dan Lewis said in a press release. “That’s the goal we will all be working toward. There were so many athletes and staff who contributed to this summer’s program.

“I’m just happy and proud of how the guys fought until the last point, they never gave up and fought to the end.”
