Lethbridge Member of Parliament Rachael Thomas has introduced a private member’s bill calling for the government to end sentence reductions for sexual predators. Bill C-246, introduced on Tuesday, calls for the Criminal Code to be amended requiring courts to impose consecutive sentences on people  convicted of sexual offences.If passed, the bill would see those convicted not receive reduced sentences.

“For over a decade, Liberal justice policies have tilted the scales in  favour of criminals, eroding the safety and dignity of victims and communities,” said Thomas, the Conservative Shadow Minister for Canadian Identity and Culture. Thomas says that under the present system, multiple sexual assaults are often treated as one which “minimizes harm, undervalues suffering, weakens deterrence, and erodes public faith in justice.”

According to Thomas, sexual assaults have risen 75 per cent since 2015 and offences against children have risen 120 per cent. “Canadians deserve a justice system that puts victims’ rights first. This legislation closes a loophole that has long let predators escape full accountability,” said Thomas.

“Standing with victims means putting their safety, dignity, and recovery ahead of offenders’ interests. Sexual predators should never  walk away with reduced sentences. This Private Member’s Bill ensures every crime is counted, and every victim is recognized.”

Is she worried that she is not popular around Lethbridge?
Playing “The law and Order” card indicates her desperation.

Well she beat the so called NDPer turned Liberal Spearman, so there is that. Is there any particular reason you are against ending sentence reductions for sex offenders, pedos and others. Like to hear you without politics tell us how you are against this legislation other than Thomas introducing it. Rather than ham handed insults show us what about this members bill you don’t like.

Reality

“Not popular around Lethbridge”??? Her consecutive landslide victories speak for itself! Defeating Chris Spearman in the last go around was an absolute pleasure to see, the end result being a humiliating and embarrassing resolve that kicked Soearman off his “high horse”!

Introducing as Bill in Parliament is what MPs do and Rachael Thomas does us an excellent job of it.

old school

Liberals won’t support anything coming from conservatives. Bail reform bill was soundly defeated. Same mentality as Kal.
