SHERMAN, Wendy WENDY BARBARA SHERMAN January 3, 1945 ~ September 26, 2025 Wendy Barbara Sherman of Lethbridge, beloved wife of Dr. Jack Sherman, passed away peacefully at Buchanan Chapel on September 26, 2025 at the age of 80 years.
Wendy was born in Saint Jean, Quebec January 3, 1945. Her father, Capt. Gordon Gall was stationed at Dorval, teaching pilots to fly. Her mother, Leah, took the train to Quebec and Wendy was born. They returned to Edmonton where she grew up.
Wendy graduated from the U of A in nursing in 1966 and married Jack, whom she met the previous year. They moved to Lethbridge in 1967, where Jack began his dental practice. Son Tim was born in 1970 and daughter Heidi in 1972 when they moved to the acreage overlooking the Oldman River and Old Chief Mountain.
After the children were in school, Wendy worked as a new patient coordinator in Jack’s practice – her nursing skills and gentle demeanor helping new clients relax. Wendy was active at McKillop and Southminster United churches. She studied transactional analysis, did counseling with Dr. Alex Lawson; taught Wellness classes, was a Stephen Minister and was a Healing Touch practitioner for over 20 years. Her gentleness and holiness were blessings to all whom she ministered.
Wendy loved animals and had horses, 13 dogs and many cats over the years – most recently her beloved cat Wallace.
She and Jack loved Hawaii and especially Maui, where they holidayed for over 40 years. She loved Hawaiian culture, art, the gentle people and their music, which she listened to daily.
Wendy and her family spent many summers in Waterton, there she participated in workshops with many visiting presenters on TA and couples therapy. Fairmont in B.C. was another favorite summer place spent with her family and grandchildren.
Wendy was a gardener and her family and friends loved to be invited for tea in Wendy’s garden. She was also an excellent cook and was part of a gourmet club of friends for nearly 50 years.
The family thanks everyone who has supported Wendy in these past few years as she struggled with Alzheimer’s. She kept her beauty and gentleness despite this terrible incurable disease.
Wendy made the brave decision to undergo MAID, as she could not bear the thought of the long-term effects of this disease.
She leaves to mourn her loving husband of 59 years, Jack. Son Tim (Annalisa), four granddaughters, Tessa, Claire, Meghan and Brenna. Daughter Heidi (George) and two grandsons, Iain and Cameron. Five great-grandchildren, Olive, Kinsley, Holden, Kasperi and August. Brother Doug and two nephews Rhys and Dylan. Jack’s sisters, Betty and Karen (Dave) and their families.
Wendy was predeceased by her parents Gordon and Leah Gall. Jack’s parents, Andy and Ada Sherman. And her great-grandson, Stone.
For those who wish, memorial donations can be made to the Lethbridge Paws Society or Bridge C-14 supporting through all stages of MAID.
Cremation has been entrusted to Martin Brothers Funeral Chapels.

HAUSAUER, Guila HAUSAUER With great sadness, we announce the passing of Guila Barton Hausauer, Saturday, September 27, 2025, at the age of 92, with her daughters by her side. Guila was born in Lethbridge on April 10, 1933, to John Perry Barton and Genevieve Ada Barton (Larson). She had 3 brothers which include Donald, Millard/Bruce and Sheldon, and 2 sisters Evelyn and Myrna. Guila was raised in Stirling, Alberta. As a young girl she was chosen to learn how to tap dance, she as well was active in sports like basketball. Her parents rented out rooms in their home, and that’s how she met the love of her life, Cecil John Hausauer. He moved to Stirling to manage the Lumber Yard. They both were teased about living together before they were married. However, they were married to each other on March 6, 1951. They moved into a very small house in Stirling that had no running water!!! They eventually moved to Leth bridge and had two daughters, Teresa and Judi (and running water)!!! She was a busy, active mother and worked nights for a while in a Cannery. She found she could get some sleep if Teresa and Judi played on the bed while she slept after Cecil went to work.
She started working Part Time at the South Side Dairy Queen way back when it basically just sold ice cream treats. Her husband and daughters came to make an order, she took each order separately. Proudly at age 3, Judi ordered a Gutterspotch Sundae. Eventually a new Brazier Dairy Queen was built which offered all sorts of food and ice cream. She started working Full Time and became the Smiley DQ lady who took orders on the Brazier side. Her last five years working there was coming in early and making beautiful ice cream cakes. After forty years of service at the Dairy Queen, she was very proud to show off her special Dairy Queen Watch.
She was active in the Relief Society and held many callings. She enjoyed sewing, needlework and crocheting. Cecil retired before her by just a few years, but she giggled when he tried so hard to have supper for her when she got home. He went to the store to find cooked noodles for this recipe he picked out, only to find out he had to buy hard noodles and go home and cook them. They both enjoyed having their children and grandchildren and many great grandchildren close. They enjoyed family dinners, and sporting events of the grandchildren. Cecil, her eternal partner passed away Aug 24, 2004 and she missed him terribly, but she did pretty good in her home (with the help of her daughters).
In 2017, things were getting a little difficult in her own home and her daughters took her to The View to check it out, they were all invited for a meal. Gui la then took off like a butterfly, because she knew so many people there and her daughters decided right there and then, that was where she needed to be. She celebrated her “ROYAL” 90th birthday in 2023 with both Suits of Armor, and Treasure Chests. She truly felt like a Queen. She continued to enjoy her retirement home and the numerous family visits and outings until May of 2024, when she had a stroke which left her with right sided weakness and memory issues. She was moved into Park Meadows Village at the end of August, 2024 and spent the rest of her time there with family visits and occasional outings. However, most recently, she was faced with some health issues which required hospitalization. Once released from the hospital, she was placed in comfort care at Park Meadows Village. Mom was glad to be out of the hospital and in a nice quiet, peaceful room. It truly was a blessing as she suffered no pain. She was a special lady in many peoples lives and she was loved by all.
She leaves behind 2 sisters-in-law, Trudy Barton (Sheldon -deceased) and Evelyn Hausauer (Jim – deceased), 2 daughters Teresa Elliott (Terry) and Judi Molcak (Jack), 7 grandchildren which include Tiffani Elliott, Shauna Kirkland (Shawn), Amy Elliott, Devyn Elliott, Christie Graves (Jason), Josh Molcak (Kathryn), daughter-in-Law (Carissa), Jeb Molcak (Rachel). Also 17 great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Cecil, all her brothers and sisters, as well as one grandson Luke Molcak, and one great granddaughter Madison Potts.
Family and friends may meet with the family for a viewing on Friday Oct 10 in the evening between 6 and 8 pm at Generations Funeral Home, 703 – 13 St. N. Lethbridge. The family will attend the internment at the Stirling Cemetery, and dedicate the Grave on Saturday, October 11 at 10 am. The Memorial Service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, October 11 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4105 Forestry Avenue, S. Lethbridge. There will be light refreshments following and all are welcome.
The family of Guila Hausauer would like to thank the ambulance and paramedics who tended to her in her time of need, the medical team at the Chinook Regional Hospital, both the Emergency Room and 4B. A special thank-you to Dr Chan for his kindness and concern. We also would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to everyone at Park Meadows Village, Cottage 5, for the care, compassion and attention you gave to our mother and to our family during her final days. Thank you!
