As municipal ballots continue to be counted by hand, unofficial results are being posted multiple times a day through the City of Lethbridge website as resident wait for official results.
The 2025 Municipal and School Election results won’t become official until noon on Friday. The City did divulge Tuesday that 17,102 people cast ballots, representing only 19.3 per cent of Lethbridge’s 88,647 eligible voters.
By contrast, the 2021 municipal election saw a total of 28,348 people cast ballots, representing 34.8 per cent of eligible voters at the time.
The unofficial results for the 2025 election as of Tuesday showed Blaine Hyggen with 5,040 votes and Ryan Mennie with 4,557 votes for Mayor.
For council members, the unofficial results showed the following at deadline:
• Belinda Crowson (incumbent) with 3,943 votes
• Jenn Schmidt-Rempel (incumbent) with 3,675 votes
• Rajko Dodic (incumbent) with 3,225 votes
• Al Beeber with 3,158 votes
• Rufa Doria with 2,919
• Ryan Wolfe with 2,849 votes
• Mark Campbell (incumbent) with 2,744 votes
• Ryan Parker (incumbent) with 2,690 votes
Lethbridge County announced unofficial election results Monday, and since the county is divided into seven electoral divisions and the candidates for Divisions 1 through 5 were all acclaimed, no election was required in those areas.
For Division 6, which includes the Hamlet of Shaughnessy, Eric Van Essen received 152 votes and William Raats received 91 votes.
For Division 7, which includes the Hamlets of Iron Springs and Turin, Tony Ankermann received 76 votes and Morris Zeinstra received 20 votes.
Results are not official until Friday at noon.
The Town of Picture Butte had all council positions acclaimed and had no municipal election. Cathy Moore remains the mayor, and Cynthia Papworth, Henry deKok, Teresa Feist and Crystal Neels remain councilors.
Coaldale voters did go to the polls Monday, and the unofficial results show incumbent mayoral candidate Jack Van Rijn with 1,176 votes to challenger Henry Doeve’s 695 votes. For council members, unofficial results show Jason Beekman with 1,384 votes, Bill Chapman with 1,185 votes, Jacen Abrey with 1,116 votes, Dale Pickering with 1,022 votes, Lisa Reis with 890 votes, and Jordan Sailer with 879 votes. All of them are incumbents.
The Separate School Board Trustees shows Kevin Joseph Kinahan with 235 votes, and Frances Cote with 140 votes.
For the Town of Taber, the unofficial results show Andrew Prokop with 937 votes and Alfred Rudd with 798 votes for Mayor.
For councillors, Randy Sparks with 950 votes, Daniel Remfert with 865 votes, Carly Firth with 814 votes, Josh Antoniuk with 800 votes, Naomi Wiebe with 773 votes and Joanne Sorensen with 770 votes.
For the Town of Fort Macleod Mayor Brent Feyter was acclaimed and the unofficial results for councilors show Christina Gail Fox with 512 votes, C. Aaron Poytress with 482 votes, David Orr with 419 votes, Jim Monteith with 395 votes, Shawn Patience with 392 votes and Jeemeet Patel with 344 votes.
In the Town of Nobleford the council was acclaimed as there were five positions and five candidates. Joan Boeder turns to the mayor’s chair and William Oudshoorn, Robert Morrow, Melissa Jensen, and Don McDowell are council members.
