Nova Scotia MP Chris d’Entremont leaves Conservative caucus to join the Liberals

By Canadian Press on November 4, 2025.

OTTAWA — Nova Scotia MP Chris d’Entremont will be joining the Liberal caucus, a government source with knowledge of the situation tells The Canadian Press.

D’Entremont resigned from the Conservative caucus earlier today after telling Politico he was considering crossing the floor to the Liberals.

The Canadian Press has reached out to d’Entremont for comment.

This move puts the Liberals two seats shy of a majority government and being able to pass their budget without opposition support.

Deputy Conservative leader Melissa Lantsman said that d’Entremont “made his choice” not to do the job Conservative voters sent him to Ottawa for.

D’Entremont was first elected as an MP in 2019 after sitting as a Nova Scotia Progressive Conservative MLA for 16 years.

This report by The Canadian Press was first published Nov. 4, 2025.
