ANDRES, Jacob
JACOB ANDRES 1929 ~ 2025 Jacob Andres was born on August 8, 1929, in LakeValley, Saskatchewan, to the late Jacob and Helen (Klassen) Andres. He peacefully passed away at the Coaldale Health Centre on November 6, 2025, at the age of 96. Jacob (Jake) moved to Coaldale with his family in 1931 and lived there until his passing, save for a short time in Calgary in his early adult years. Jake married Verdell (Chalmers) Andres on July 8, 1967.
Jake leaves behind his beloved wife, Verdell, of 58 years, their two children Deanna (Shami) Willms, and Blaine (Becky) Andres and four grandchildren, Ethan & Kai Willms, Zoe & Eli Andres. Jake is also lovingly remembered by his in-laws, Sylvia Andres, Anne Harder, Arnot Chalmers, and Donnie (Laura) Chalmers and numerous nieces, nephews, their families, and longtime friends. Jake was predeceased by his siblings, Eric Harder, Melvin (Mel) Andres, Johanna Dyck, Anne Daum, and his brother-in-laws David Dyck and Kerm Daum.
For Jake, life was centered around family, church, community, and business. He invested genuinely and fully into the lives of those around him. Jake was always ready for an adventure, so long as it was taking place close to home. He reluctantly agreed to family holidays from time to time and enjoyed making memories with the people he loved, but he was always happiest when he made it home to his beloved Coaldale.
He enjoyed a long and rewarding career in business with his brother, Mel, beginning with Andres Transport from 1957-1978, and then Andres Trailer Sales and Rentals from 1978-1993. Throughout their lives, Jake and Verdell have invested in the lives of family and strangers alike, with their kindness and selfless giving of their time and resources.
Jake was blessed to live at home to the end of his life, made possible by the beautiful love and commitment of his wife, who cared for him with dignity and devotion.
In lieu of flowers, donations are graciously accepted to: MCC Alberta, 2946-32 Street NE, Calgary, T1Y 6J7
