The Lethbridge Polytechnic Winter Fest is coming back for the second year, along with the Coca-Cola Holiday Caravan on its only stop in Lethbridge on Thursday.
On Nov. 27, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Trades, Technologies and Innovation Facility entrance on the south side of campus, those in attendance can enjoy a cup of hot chocolate while staying warm by a bonfire. And have an opportunity to take photos with Santa and Mrs. Clause.
Lanae Morris, alumni engagement co-ordinator, said the event is a free family-friendly event open to everyone in the community.
“We are going to have roasting marshmallows and hot dogs over the fire, hot chocolate and you can pick up your five-day holiday cheer challenge kits as well,” said Morris.
She said as part of the Holiday Cheer Challenge they have prizes to be won by students, alumni and community members.
“This year’s take-home Holiday Cheer Challenge kit combines baking, crafting, celebrating the season and more. Take part in each activity, snap some memorable photos and enter to win one of three Coca-Cola prize packs,” said Morris.
She said those attending the Winter Fest are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for donation to the Lethbridge Polytechnic Students’ Association Food Bank.
Each holiday cheer kit is free and includes five holiday challenges. Those taking part of the challenge will have a chance to win one of three prizes, one for alumni, one for community members and one for current students. Each prize pack includes a custom Coca-Cola cooler that doubles as a sound system and comes packed with branded extras.
The challenges include taking a holiday photo, a photo sharing a Coca-Cola with someone, a photo of holiday baking, a photo of the decorated wooden ornament included in the kit, and a random act of kindness photo that can be of a donation made to a food bank or an encouraging note left for a stranger.
Then submit all five holiday challenge photos to the Holiday Cheer Challenge submission webpage at https://lethpolytech.ca/holiday-cheer-submission
