Cougars sweep Pronghorns over the weekend

The University of Lethbridge Pronghorns basketball teams had close games against the Mount Royal University Cougars in Calgary over the weekend but failed to find the win column in any of them.

The Pronghorn men (3-7) opened the weekend with a narrow 82-80 loss on Friday.

Kymani Pollard drained 25 points , while Lu Dalil had seven rebounds  for the Horns in the defeat.

U of L  made over 50 per cent of their  field goals, converted 22 per cent of their three-point shots and over 66 per cent of their free throws.

The men then were again on the wrong side of a close game as they lost 69-68 on  Saturday.

Pollard again led the way for the Horns with 19 points and seven rebounds.

The Horns made just over 41 per cent of their field goals, over 33 per cent of their three-point shots and over 73 per cent of their free throws.

The Pronghorn women (2-8) lost their first game of the weekend 80-67 to the Cougars on Friday.

Abby Stonehocker scored 18 points and collected eight rebounds for the Horns in the loss.

U of L made over 33 per cent of their field goals, were 31.6 per cent  in three-point shooting and drained 60 per cent of their free throws.

The Horns followed up with a 64-60 loss on Saturday night.

Courtney McKee had 18 points, Stonehocker had 11 rebounds and Asia Wells had 10 rebounds to lead U of L in the loss.

The Horns made  36.1 per cent of their field goals, made over 23 per cent of their three-point shots and were 30 per cent from the free throw line.

Both teams will finish the first semester of play before the break at Trinity Western University on Friday and Saturday respectively.
