The Lethbridge Hurricanes put in a strong effort on home ice on Friday night as they doubled up the Moose Jaw Warriors 6-3 at VisitLethbridge.com Arena.

“I’m just happy to see our team produce some offence and have some fun off the rush,” said Ryan Aasman, Canes assistant coach to Dustin Forbes of 106.7 Rock.

The Warriors opened the scoring when Ethan Semeniuk deked to the backhand and slid the puck passed Koen Cleaver 9:36 into the first period on the powerplay from Landen McFadden and Pavel Mckenzie.

Lethbridge tied the game over three minutes later when Kade Duell tapped in a shot at the top of the crease to finish off a nice passing play with Hudson Kibblewhite and Luke Cozens.

Tyden Lafournaise gave Lethbridge a 2-1 lead 3:42 into the second period when his wrist shot found the back of the net.

Enzo DiDomenicantonio and Jake Evans assisted on Lafournaise’s third goal of the season.

The Canes took a 3-1 lead when Duell finished off another nice passing play with Cozens and Kibblewhite 6:05 into the second period for his second goal of the game.

Dominik Pavlik got to the Warriors to within a goal when he scored over two minutes later from  Noah Degenstein.

Kibblewhite restored the Canes two-goal lead when his quick shot from the side of the net found its way in 9:33 into the second period.

Duell and Cozens assisted on Kibblewhite’s marker.

Moose Jaw replied 12:19 into the second period when former Hurricane Kash Andresen scored on the powerplay from Aiden Ziprick and Colt Carter  to cut Lethbridge’s lead to 4-3.

Easton Daneault gave the Hurricanes a 5-3 lead 14:21 into the second period when he scored his second of the season from Kayden Longley.

Cozens doubled the Canes lead 15:42 into the third period on the power play with his 15th goal of the season from Wormald and Maloney.

Final shots were 31 apiece by both teams.

Kibblewhite, Cozens and Duell combined for 10 points on the evening.

“They  of course funnelled some pucks to the net and were there,” said Aasman.

“That line just had some energy and hounded some pucks more than usual and obviously got more puck touches because of it.”

The Warriors capitalized twice while the Canes scored once on the powerplay.

Please see the Herald’s website for the game recap with quotes.

The Hurricanes will next be in action when they host the Red Deer Rebels on Wednesday night.
