It wasn’t gold, but Canada’s finish at the world junior hockey championship resonated well with Proline bettors Monday.
Canada defeated Finland 6-3 in Minnesota to earn the bronze medal. According to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp., 53 per cent of Proline players had the Canadians coming away with the bronze medal while 71 per cent had them at -1.5 goals.
Also on Monday, Sweden defeated Czechia 4-2 to win the world junior gold medal, a result 49 per cent of players successfully backed. Another 55 per cent had Sweden at -1.5 goals.
The NFL regular season ended dramatically Sunday night with the Pittsburgh Steelers nipping the Baltimore Ravens 26-24 to secure the AFC North title and a playoff spot with a 10-7 record. The Ravens (8-9) had a chance to secure the win and playoff berth but kicker Tyler Loop missed a 44-yard field goal try late in the contest.
Just 51 per cent of bettors backed Pittsburgh’s win while 57 per cent had the Steelers at +4.5. Fifty-eight per cent had the over at 41.5 points.
A digital bettor won $3,652.97 from a $25 wager on a five-pick parlay while another turned a $7 wager into a $1,772.52 windfall the result of a five-pick NHL parlay. A $9 bet resulted in a return of $1,266.60 for a third digital customer on an eight-pick parlay.
A retail player claimed $8,160.20 from a $50 bet on an eight-pick parlay while another took home $1,729.80 from a $10 bet on a four-pick parlay.
