Canadian snowboarder Laurie Blouin wins World Cup slopestyle gold in Colorado

By Canadian Press on January 10, 2026.

ASPEN — Canada’s Laurie Blouin claimed World Cup gold in snowboard slopestyle Saturday.

The 29-year-old from Quebec City bounced back from a low-scoring first run with an 81.21 points on her second at Snowmass Ski Report in Aspen, Colo.

Japanese boarders finished second to fourth with runner-up Mari Fukada scoring 77.26, Kokomo Murase a 75.36 and Momo Suzuki at 65.86.

Blouin earned a silver medal in Olympic slopestyle in 2018 and was fourth in 2022 in Beijing.

Her victory Saturday was her first on the World Cup circuit since March of 2022.

The Canadian went into Saturday’s final feeling confident while other athletes tried to lock down berths for February’s Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina, Italy.

“I was just here to have fun and not have any pressure, and that’s what I did,” Blouin said.

“I’m pretty much qualified for the Olympics, so I came here to just get the nerve back.”

Francis Jobin of Quebec City was the top Canadian in the men’s field in 12th.

Jake Canter of the United States took gold ahead of Yiming Su in second and Dane Menzies of New Zealand in third.
