BERG, Eileen Eileen Berg
1940 – 2026
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Eileen Rochelle Berg, announce her passing in Bow Island on Friday, January 9, 2026 at the age of 85 years.
Eileen is survived by her daughter Darla (John) Ell of Cochrane and their two children Kari (Jake) Mandin (their family Carter and Leo) and John L. Ell; Rod Berg of Picture Butte and his daughter Bailey. She is also survived by her siblings Bud (Kay) Phillips and Harley (Kathleen) Phillips and by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents William and Clara Phillips; her sisters Shirley Phillips in infancy, Eva (Bob) Comm and Ethel-Mae “Flip” (Earle) Herbert; brother Bob (Lois) Phillips.
Eileen was born in Medicine Hat on May 9, 1940 and was raised in Bow Island. She worked as a switchboard operator for the phone company before taking a job at the Bank of Montreal in Bow Island where she was employed for sixteen years. She then moved on to the Treasury Branch in Lethbridge and Taber where she remained for the next nineteen years before retiring in 1998. Retirement wasn’t all she hoped for and she missed her daily routine so she decided to go back to work. She spent her time with the SAAN Store, The Bargain Shop and with the Chinook Health Region. She also enjoyed volunteering at St. Theodore’s Church.
The Funeral Service will be held at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 – 48 Avenue, Taber on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. Burial to follow at Taber Memorial Garden. Condolences may be forwarded by visiting our website at

NIKKEL, Gail GAIL NIKKEL 1953 – 2026 Gail Susan Nikkel (nee Sleightholm), born August 19, 1953, of Lethbridge, Alberta, passed away peacefully at the St. Michael’s Palliative Care Unit on January 3, 2026. She went to be with her Lord and Saviour at the age of 72 after a long battle with cancer.
A Celebration of Gail’s Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 – 4 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta, with Pastor Gary Dupuis officiating.
