By Lethbridge Herald Obituaries on January 24, 2026.
SHERMAN, Rennie SHERMAN RENNIE F. SHERMAN Passed away unexpectedly, at home, August 1, 2025, in Naphtha, AB., at the age of 74.
Rennie was born January 6, 1951, at St. Michael’s Hospital, to Frank and Josy Sherman, now deceased.
Rennie graduated in 1969 from CCHS. He missed Graduation, a sad event, as three of his close friends were involved in a tragic vehicle accident, initiating Safe Grad safeguard practices.
Rennie lived in Lethbridge until his early 20’s at which time he moved to Calgary. He spent the next 34 years working for Calgary Light Rail Transit System. He took an early retirement to enjoy life on his half acre home nestled in the Foothills of Alberta. Rennie was an avid hunter and enjoyed the great outdoors.
His passion for hunting began at a young age having received a Bow & Arrow for Christmas. His target, gophers in the back field with his Grandpa Sherman on 13 Street North. Next, a BB gun, his target, unsuspecting people’s butts, at home out his bedroom window. A police visit put a stop to that real quick. Later on, big game hunting which many mounted moose and deer heads, one being a 10-pointer, adorned his walls.
His marriage to LeeAnn was short but they remained good friends.
Rennie is survived by his two sisters; Frances (Dave) Gaskell and Cidnee Sherman (Guy); his nephews, Scott Gaskell (Adria) and Robin (Jodie) Gaskell and his nieces, Lonnee (Travis) Lodermeier and Dallyn Robinson (Derek); his great-nieces, Phoenix, Frankee, Teagan and Nashville; his great-nephews, Parker, Kai, Markus, Braeden, Justice, Simon and Jude.
Rennie was a kind, caring person giving generously to World Vision. He truly will be missed.
Cremation by Arbor Memorial in Calgary. As per Rennie’s request, there will be no Funeral service. A private family graveside gathering will be held at a later date.
Those who wish, donations may be made to Bringing Hearts Home Cardiac Campaign.
