LUCA, Charlie Charlie Luca 1921 – 2026 Charles Luca, passed away in Foremost on Sunday, February 8, 2026 at the age of 104 years.
Charlie was born December 4, 1921, on his parents’ farm north of Foremost. His parents Camile and Virginie (née Pollet) Luca were immigrants from Belgium. They also had a daughter Anna Marie in 1924. By the time Charlie was eleven years old, he and Anna lost their father to Tuberculosis. Their mother had a difficult time with the isolation and hard life in Alberta and was taken back to Belgium. As a result, he and Anna were then raised by their Uncle Theophile and Aunt Emma with their cousin Edward. The children attended Neighborview School, a 2.5 km walk.
After grade nine, Charlie worked on the farm and in the off season, worked various jobs in and around Calgary. He worked for a railway contractor, at a sawmill, drove gravel truck for a construction company and got his Chauffeurs license. He farmed with Edward and later on his own. While farming, he got involved in Amateur (Ham) Radio, helped build the Foremost Civic Centre and did line maintenance on the rural phone lines.
After retirement at age fifty six, he toured The Pacific Rim and South America. At age sixty two, he joined Canadian University Service Overseas (CUSO) and his volunteer position was in northwest Botswana. His job was with the Co-op buying grain and helping the population grow crops. He spent ten years working in Africa before coming back to Foremost, where he pursued his passion for golf. He has since spent every September visiting relatives in Belgium and then wintering in El Centro, California where he spent his days golfing.
He was a lifelong learner who taught himself several languages and used the latest technology. He had a keen mind, sharp sense of humor and made friends wherever he went. He will be missed by his many coffee and golfing friends in other countries and at home.
A celebration of Charlie’s life, including an open mike for anyone wishing to share memories, will be held at the Foremost Community Hall, 802 – 1 Avenue West, Foremost on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 2:30 P.M.

Born in Lethbridge in 1958, Rick will be remembered as thoughtful, curious and kind. His love of nature, the outdoors, and his passion for hunting and fishing were all in keeping with his love of solitude and peacefulness.
Rick attended both Catholic Central High School and the Lethbridge Collegiate Institute (LCI) in Lethbridge. After secondary school, he worked at the Wilson Ranch where his love of ranching was born. His work experience was varied and included seismic, mechanics, the oil fields, building and bridge construction. His time farming on the Wilson Ranch in Helmville, MT drove his love for Montana and all it offered him. It was where Rick most felt at home and where he could pursue his passions of hunting, fishing, hiking, metal detecting and skiing. Always curious, Rick was an avid reader and was deeply interested in history and science. In his earlier years, he participated in lacrosse, hockey and basketball. Rick championed and worked for the very first indoor ice rink in Missoula and loved the idea of introducing the hockey experience to the children of the area.

Dan was a kind and generous man, remembered for his warmth, his strong work ethic, and the deep love he held for his family. When he wasn’t at the Dairy Queen or cheering on his grandchildren at hockey, figure skating, or dance events, he could often be found working on his golf swing at the Lethbridge Country Club, often followed by sharing a pitcher of beer with friends.

NOBLE, Dorethy DORETHY JEANNE NOBLE (NIEBOER) Passed away peacefully on January 19th, 2026.
Born in 1941 and raised in southern Alberta, Dorethy graduated from nursing school in 1962. She moved to Maple Ridge, BC, shortly thereafter, to work at the town’s newly built hospital. She married Doug five years later.
She took great pride in being a registered nurse. She had a gift for helping people feel more comfortable and valued excellent patient care. Dorethy called things as she saw them – often using questionable language in order to get her point across. She made many lifelong friends during her 40- year career in health care and built special connections with many in the community. The United Church was especially close to her heart. Later in her working life, Dorethy spent 10 years as a marriage commissioner, which was a natural fit with her passion for helping others. Dorethy loved music and being an organist, as well as sewing and other creative pastimes.
Predeceased by her loving husband, Doug, and brother Bill. Deeply missed by her sons, Sean and Ross, sisters Ruth and Ellie (Mike), brother John (Margriet), sister-in-law, Pearl, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. She also leaves behind her newly-adopted and much-adored miniature poodle, Zoey.

Frank also shared his theatrical talents with the people of St. Augustine’s church, where he performed with his daughter Teresa in many Vacation Bible School plays and Christmas pageants.
His archery skills, and his love of theater and camping lead him naturally into the Society for Creative Anachronism, (SCA) Here he met his wife, Grace and the family enjoyed many events together.
As he had retired from teaching by the time of their marriage, Frank joined his wife Grace in running a licensed family day home, an occupation that allowed them to spend quality time with their children, Franklin and Teresa, as well as the many little ones who enjoyed Frank’s playful spirit and gift for creative drama.
Throughout his life, Frank was an active member of many clubs. He held offices in the Fraternal Order of the Eagles where he was a lifetime member. He was a member of both the Hungarian Cultural Society of Southern Alberta and the Hungarian Canadian Old Timers’ Society of Lethbridge.
These associations gave him the opportunity to attend dances, where, as recently as one year ago, he could still dance the night away, doing two steps, waltzes, and, his favorite, Jive. He even enjoyed coming to the business meetings and supervising the renovations at the Old Timers’ Hall as Grace’s constant companion.

LODERMEIER, Barry LODERMEIER BARRY LODERMEIER was born on February 11, 1954, in Lethbridge, Alberta, and passed away peacefully on February 10, 2026, in Coutts, Alberta, one day shy of his 72nd birthday.
Over the years, Barry worked at Roydale in Milk River, spent time at Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park, and later became an independent owner-operator in the trucking industry. He took great pride in his work and was known for his strong work ethic.
As much as Barry loved to work hard, taking on huge projects on his home near the Gladstone mountain range, he could also be found bird watching, bear watching, and enjoying all the other critters that roamed around. The chipmunks and squirrels gave him equal amounts of enjoyment and frustration as they hogged the bird feeders. His strong bond with the multitude of cats… that didn’t have 9 lives, needed more time to strengthen. He enjoyed hunting and teaching his grandkids how to target shoot. He shared his love of all these things with his family and friends when they came out and spent time each summer camping.
He especially treasured watching his grandkids grow and excel in their crazy sporting activities, such as bull fighting and steer riding. He coached baseball and prided himself in passing down all his knowledge on how to cheat at crib. What he did not enjoy, is getting beat at Sequence by his grandkids.
Barry is lovingly remembered by his children, Jill (Mark) and Wade (Alison). He was a proud grandfather to Trevor (Crystal), Jace (Jaiden), Easton, Levi, Avaya, and Paisley, and a delighted great-grandfather to Kennedy.
He is also survived by his siblings: Gail and Brian Stickel; Roger and Vicki Lodermeier; Debbie and Rick Steyh; Rhonda Swanson and Rick Dixon; Lana and Larry Barton, many nieces and nephews, along with extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Barry will be remembered for his amazing hugs, easy going laughs and contagious smile, his dedication to family, and the steady presence he brought to those around him. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild, and in the many memories made in the mountains he loved so much.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
