Canadians in Mexican state ordered to shelter in place as violence erupts

HALIFAX — Canadians in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, are being ordered to shelter in place as violence escalates in the region.
The federal government is warning Canadians in Jalisco State, including popular tourist destination Puerto Vallarta, that criminal groups have set up road blocks with burning vehicles in the area.
The feds say there have also been shootouts and explosions.
It’s not yet clear if there are any injuries from the violence.
Air Canada, Porter and WestJet have cancelled flights into the Puerto Vallarta airport.
An official with the Canadian consulate department confirms the government is aware of and monitoring the developing situation.

Gee . . . never saw that coming!!!
Mexico is not the place to escape Canadian winters anymore . . . wake up people! The Cartels have zero respect for human life and although they attempt to control conflict in tourist areas . . . areas where they have major investments in oddly enough, tourist business such as resorts, bars, transportation . . . when it comes to a fight, and they open fire, those bullets don’t discriminate who they kill,or maime . . . yet people just don’t get how insecure they can be! Then they get into trouble and demand the Canadian government swoops in and saves them, after disregarding travel advisories!
I have friends who live in Mexico I won’t even visit . . . why? . . . you really don’t know what business is Cartel owned, so you support them by using those businesses . . . then there is a security issue . . . sorry, but I would feel safer touring Israel than Mexico and have worked in worn torn countries.
If I am paying for a holiday, I don’t want to do so with 360 degree safety concerns . . . I want to relax and enjoy it . . . although there should always be some vigilance where ever you tour, Mexico should always be a higher level!
Most are not looking for issues and fail to see the danger they just passed by in Mexico! If you not paying attention, you miss the issues and the massive influx of migrants and Cartels have only magnified the problem!
You couldn’t give me an all expenses paid trip to Mexico!
