CALGARY — Kerri Einarson’s curling team has defeated Scotland 7-5 at the women’s world curling championship.
Canada stole a point in the ninth end to lead 7-5 coming home. The Scots weren’t able to generate two points to force an extra end.
The host country and Switzerland were tied atop the standings with 7-1 records. Canada beat Turkey 9-3 earlier in the day.
Canada’s next opponents are South Korea and Norway.
The top six teams in the field of 13 at the end of pool play Friday advance to playoffs.
The top two gain direct entry into Saturday’s semifinals. The medal games are Sunday.
