Moguls star Mikaël Kingsbury to retire after this weekend’s Canadian championships

SAINT-SAUVEUR, QUE. — Moguls star Mikaël Kingsbury will retire after the Canadian freestyle skiing championships this weekend in Saint-Sauveur, Que.

Kingsbury is a five-time Olympic medallist across four Winter Games, winning gold twice.

The 33-year-old from Deux-Montagnes, Que., added two medals to his collection at last month’s Milan Cortina Olympics, his final major international competition.

He finished second in the individual event after posting the same score as Australian champion Cooper Woods, then captured gold in the debut of dual moguls at the Olympics.

Kingsbury is the most decorated moguls skier in World Cup history, with 100 victories and 143 podium finishes — both records in the sport. He also captured 29 Crystal Globes and was crowned world champion nine times.

In Saint-Sauveur, he will compete in the individual competition Friday, followed by the dual moguls event Saturday. Saturday’s race will mark the final competition of his career.
