Lethbridge Police arrested 42-year-old Nicholas Rodney Scout, of Lethbridge, and charged him with one count of first-degree murder in connection with the death of a 27-year-old man Monday night.
On Tuesday, Lethbridge Police said Scout was arrested late Monday night following the execution of search warrants at two residences along Mt Crandell Crescent.
He is the third person charged with first-degree murder in connection to the death of a local 27-year-old man.
LPS said evidence indicates this was a targeted incident between parties known to one another.
On Friday Lethbridge Police advised the public of an ongoing investigation of a suspicious death at an apartment complex along the 200 block of 7 A Avenue South.
LPS told residents through a release that there was a visible police presence in the area but no evidence to suggest an ongoing risk to neighbours or the public.
On Monday, LPS confirmed that on March 27 around 6:30 a.m., police and EMS responded to a report of an assault at said apartment complex, and upon arrival an unresponsive male was located inside one of the units and later pronounced deceased at the scene. He was identified as a 27-year-old Lethbridge man.
Lethbridge Police said Monday the investigation, being treated as a homicide, was assumed by members of the Criminal Investigation Section.
Scout has a lengthy criminal record. In July 2021 he had as many as 43 criminal charges going back to 2019 and spent a few months in jail. Then in September of the same year, he was charged with assault with a weapon, pointing a firearm, arson, and possession of stolen vehicles.
Scout is currently in custody awaiting a Judicial Interim Releasing hearing.
Darcy Andrew Medicine Crane, 43, and Jordan Frank North Peigan, 27, are also charged with one count of first-degree murder each in connection with the death of the 27-year-old man.
As the investigation is ongoing, LPS said no further information will be released at this time.
