Lethbridge Police have charged a local woman in connection with drug trafficking targeting unhoused and vulnerable residents.
In mid-March, the Downtown Policing Unit, with support from the Crime Suppression Team and SCAN, observed a female repeatedly engaging with unhoused individuals in activity consistent with drug sales. Police also identified trafficking at a residence on the 1800 block of 1 A Avenue North.
On March 25, officers executed a search warrant at the property, seizing drug paraphernalia. During an arrest away from the residence, police recovered about eight grams of fentanyl, 19 grams of methamphetamine, and nearly $1,000 in suspected drug proceeds.
Andrea Rachel Weasel Fat, 39, faces charges including trafficking, possession for trafficking, and possession of proceeds of crime. She remains in custody; her next court date is April 2. Dwayne Bastien, 29, received 15 days after pleading guilty.

Well done LPS!! Nice to see several drug busts in the last few weeks! Keep it up! The article states drug trafficking to the ‘unhoused and vulnerable’ . . . most of the drugs sold are consumed by this group.
Most of the violent crimes, and assualts are from this group connected to the drug crisis . . . . and it is good to see more focus is now being placed on reducing the drug flow! Too many are dead from it and if it were any other crime killing so many Canadians, a huge task force would have been put in place years ago to reduce the prevalence of illegal drugs!
One kilogram of fentanyl has the potential to kill 500,000 people, according to dea.gov . So 1 gram can kill 500 people, so this woman had enough fentanyl to kill 4000 people. So in a real way she was attempting to kill thousands of people yet will get a slap on the wrist I’m sure. We live in a crazy world.
Anyone who manufactures or distributes fentanyl should be charged with attempted murder or murder/manslaughter when arrested. They knowingly supply a drug that is known to cause death. Enough of them creating havoc on our street, getting a slap on the wrist and being let out to continue harming our vulnerable citizens.
