MUNRO, Rose MUNRO Rose Marie Munro of Vulcan, Alberta, passed away peacefully at the Palliative Care Vulcan Hospital on March 19, 2026 at the age of 96.
Rose was born on September 11, 1929 in Warner, Alberta to John and Frida Bachman. She was the third of six sisters. They were a close and loving family where the pranks, teasing and jokes they loved to play on one another carried on into their adult years and even expanded to spouses and children alike. A treasured memory for Rose and her sisters was a trip to Switzerland where they had many fun stories exploring their roots.
After completing her schooling in Warner, Rose worked in the CIBC Bank there, transferring to the Vulcan Branch in 1949. In her early days in Vulcan, she met Evan Munro, and they were married on June 16, 1951. They loved their years of farming west of Kirkcaldy raising three children. Rose and Evan both attended the Vulcan United Church with a deep and abiding faith. Rose taught Sunday school and lived her life trusting Jesus.
Rose and Evan were both very community minded. She was a Charter member of the Lionettes Club and an active member, attending meetings well into her eighties. The Kirkcaldy community was also dear to her, and countless brides-to-be were treated to shower skits acted from the hilarious poems that Rose wrote. She loved her painting classes at the Kirkcaldy Hall, and also created many beautiful stitching, knitting and crocheted projects.
Rose and Evan loved camping and enjoyed many trips to the hills with friends. Rose was a wonderful homemaker, loved gardening, was an excellent cook and was known for her amazing pies. She loved animals and it was not unheard of to have a batch of kittens or puppies starting their life in the house.
Playing the piano and organ were a lifelong joy for Rose with her gift of playing by ear. She loved playing cards and board games, enjoyed curling and bowling, and learned to golf and swim after she and Evan retired to Vulcan. Fun memories were created with the Red Hatters as well.
After Evan’s death in 1991, Rose married Lloyd Graham of Vulcan in 1998, and they enjoyed their golden years together until Lloyd’s passing in 2023. The last two years Rose called the Vulcan Peter Dawson Lodge her home.
Rose’s life was filled with caring and compassion. She was kind to everyone and was very beloved by all who knew her. She had a marvellous sense of humor, quick wit and a beautiful laugh. She loved her family with all her heart and they loved her equally. She will be forever in our hearts.
Rose is survived by Sharon and Greg Fuller of Calgary, David and Tracy Munro of Vulcan, Duane and Suzanne Munro of Calgary. 9 grandchildren – Jason (Lisa) Fuller, Scott (Amy) Fuller, Pamela (Aaron) Matlock, Chad Munro, Heather (Travis) Warren, Shelesea Russell, Joseph ( Aurora) Russell, Sasha Munro, Christopher Munro. Also by 13 great grandchildren – Jake, Juliette, Pryce and Casey Fuller, Andie, Blayne and Pierce Matlock, Sam and Elliott Munro, Jackie, Emery and Evan Warren, and Victoria Russell. Sister-in-law, Marion Kettleson of Calgary and numerous nieces and nephews. Also by Lloyd’s daughters Valerie (Brent) Skura of Richmond, B.C., Leila (Ron) Bunton of Lethbridge, Alberta and their families.
She was predeceased by her parents, John and Frida Bachman, her first husband Evan Munro, her second husband Lloyd Graham, sisters and brothers-in-law Alice (Bruce) Colwill, Trudy (Merv) Newinger, Cecilia (Lee) Minion, Shirley (Lewis) Tudor, Louise (Marvin) Christensen, cousin Arthur (Freda) Jones, and brother-in-law Jim Kettleson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wish to offer special thanks to the staff at the Peter Dawson Lodge (Vulcan) and the Vulcan Hospital for the excellent care she received.
A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at 1:00 pm at the Vulcan United Church with Sue MacDonald officiating. Donations in Rose’s memory can be made to the Vulcan Hospital Palliative Care, the Lionettes Club of Vulcan, Vulcan UInited Church, or the charity of choice.

SHEEN, Ray Ray Sheen
1935 – 2026
Raymond Hardin Sheen, beloved husband of Christine Sheen, passed away in Taber on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at the age of 90 years.
Ray was born in Cardston on August 14, 1935, a twin and the second of six children born to Grant and Helena Sheen. He loved growing up on the prairies and often described his idyllic youth as “Tom Sawyer Days.” Rural life instilled in him the value of hard work and deepened his love for the earth and for all of God’s creations.
In 1960, Ray married his eternal sweetheart, Christine Perry and together they built a life defined by faith, service and devotion. Their home was filled with children, music, laughter and love. For Ray, there was truly no place like home. Their children, David Sheen, Diane (Andrew) Llewelyn-Jones, Kevin (Jocelyne) Sheen, Karen (Grant) Schultz, Janelle (Jamie) Orr, Jay (Sara) Sheen and Colin (Amanda) Sheen along with twenty nine grandchildren and thirty seven great grandchildren, are a testament to that love.
Ray attended the University of Alberta, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and later received a Master of Education in Counselling from Brigham Young University. He was a gifted schoolteacher, counsellor and coach. A man who could see potential in a child long before the child saw it in themselves.
Ray’s warmth, kindness, optimism and ready helping hands reflected his deep love for the Saviour and his sincere desire to emulate Him. As a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ray fulfilled many church assignments and leadership roles. As a young man, he served a mission in Norway and later, with Christine by his side, served four additional missions to Saskatchewan, Nigeria, Salt Lake City and Sweden.
Ray was actively involved in the community through sports, the arts, municipal affairs, Scouts Canada and The Vegetable Garden.
Like Ray’s well-tended gardens at the end of a season, he rests. His life full and beautiful, his harvest abundant.

TREBER, Gordon GORDON TREBER It is with heavy hearts we inform you of Gordon Treber’s passing, on March 24, 2026, after a brief illness.
He is survived by his wife, Mona (nee Gallicano); his son, Ryan (Kristen) Treber; his daughters, Keishia (Chris) Pasceri and Nikki Treber; his brother, Bill Treber; and his adored grandchildren, Eli, Caleb, Rosa, and Enzo.
He is also survived by his aunt and uncle, Sheryl and Yvan Rocheleau, as well as many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Florence (Babs) Treber, and his sisters, Linda Jones and Janet Johnson.
Gord was born in February 1954 in Lethbridge, Alberta. In his late 20s, he moved to Cranbrook to work for CPR, where he met the love of his life, Mona. A few years later, they married, started a family, and eventually moved to Revelstoke, BC. In Revelstoke, Gord worked as an engineer for CPR and became a beloved “out-law,” as most of Mona’s family resided there. He took great pride in the skill and patience required to run trains smoothly through the Rogers Pass, traveling from Revelstoke to Golden and back. He especially enjoyed working alongside different “train mates” on each trip, often with his tunes playing in the background.
He retired from CPR in 2009. In retirement, Gord took on a job he truly loved. He began driving the Rocky Mountaineer between Kamloops and Banff for nine enjoyable seasons. His greatest joy while working, was operating “his Cadillac passenger train, that drove like a sports car.”
Gord enjoyed life’s simple pleasures; a good steak and a beer or two, gardening, and tending to his many house plants. He was the barbecue king and a fun-loving enthusiast. He also enjoyed motor-homing, campfires, swimming, fishing, mountain biking, reading, space, music, playing games and social gatherings. In his earlier years, he also enjoyed his sporty black BMW “Beamer”, his El Camino, numerous motorcycles, and downhill skiing.
He was a delight to be around, no matter the setting, and found great joy in spending time with family, in-laws, and friends of all ages. He loved entertaining others with something he had recently read, a concert video, a silly hat, or a witty saying. Gord also found happiness in creating beautiful projects in his workshop or by fixing things. Rather than saying he was heading to the shop, he would say, “Going out to make some sawdust,” or jokingly tell Mona he was “Going shopping” (something he much preferred over Mona’s version of shopping, unless it involved tools or new technology.)
Gord was truly one in a million, and we are grateful to have shared in his enthusiastic and joyful life. A Celebration of Life will be held in mid-summer, with particulars announced in early July. We would appreciate Gord’s passing be communicated privately, and not posted or discussed on any other social media platform.
For those who knew and cared for him, you understand that Gord would want us to thank you for the role you played in his life. He would want you to know he was grateful to have known you and would not want anyone to feel sadness. Thank you for being there for Gord throughout his life, and for supporting us now as we learn to live with his absence.
