BRUCHET
CLARA ELIZABETH BRUCHET
Clara passed away quietly into the arms of our heavenly Father on Wednesday evening April 23 2014, 3 days after her 93rd birthday. She was born on April 20, 1921 in Lethbridge, loving daughter of George and Edna Bruchet.
She attended the Catholic schools in the city and in her younger years was a member of the Junior Choir at St. Patrick’s Church. She loved to sing and was often heard humming as she went about at whatever task she was doing. She attended every church service being held in the lodges where she lived, just so she could enjoy the hymns and sing along with them.
She was a long time member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Women’s League and attended their functions when she could, with her sister Monica. Clara lived at home looking after her parents with love and care until their passing.
In 2002 when her health failed she moved to and lived in several care facilities, finally settling in Edith Cavell Nursing Home for the past five years until her passing. She loved living in Edith Cavell, attending as many social functions that she could. She was a very social person and would visit with staff, volunteers, residents and their families sharing the “way back then times.†She could remember events like they were yesterday along with names, dates, birthdays, addresses, who was married to who and anything else you might want to ask her.
Family was everything to Clara. She was always interested in everything each and every one was doing and how they were. She prayed for all the family all the time, she prayed for world peace, and prayed for anyone who needed her prayers. She will be remembered as a loving, caring, gentle person with a warm smile, a big heart and a good sense of humor. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.
Clara is survived by her brother Dennis of Vancouver, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents George and Edna, and her siblings: baby sister Edna, sister Monica & Michael Petras; brothers and their wives, Irvine & Barbara, Leonard & Amelia, Edmund, Lawrence & Margaret, George & Helene, Joseph & Jean, William & Dorothy, Alfred & Dorothy, and sister-in-law Helen (wife of Dennis).
We ask you to join in the celebration of Clara’s life with a Prayer Vigil to be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge on Monday, April 28, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. with Alice Takacs officiating.

JOHN DAYMOTH FURMAN
Jack Furman passed away peacefully January 28, 2014 at the Kamloops hospital.
John [Jack] Furman was born in Fort Macleod, Alberta, on September 21, 1918. Jack operated the Speedway Service Station in Fort Macleod when duty called. Jack received his training in the Canadian Army Trade School (CATS) in Hamilton Ontario. Jack heard that there was a call to join a special top secret outfit. He volunteered and was accepted into the First Canadian Special Service Battalion, the Canadian component of the Canadian / American, First Special Service Force. Jack was one of the 700 Canadians accepted into this elite unit, which totaled 2,300 men. Jack trained with the Force in Helena Montana where they received top notch training in mountain warfare, hand to hand combat, parachuting and demolitions. Top conditioning was a must. They were trained to succeed in conditions where nobody else could or would even want to.
It was through this vigorous training and dangerous missions where the men of the Force developed the ultimate friendships that carried them throughout their lives. The first Special Service Force never lost a battle and continued to be successful through the War even though they fought below their combat strength on many occasions. The Force took countless prisoners while suffering a 135% casualty rate. The First Special Service Force received many Canadian and American battle honors and streamers.
After the War Jack returned home and married the love of his life, Merle Dunn. Merle and Jack moved to Hope B.C. where they built and ran a motel for many years. In 1970 Jack and Merle moved to the Okanagan, bought a home in Coldstream and lived out their lives.
Internment in the family plot in Mountain View Cemetery in Lethbridge, AB on Saturday, April 26 at 1:00pm. Please meet at the entrance.
Survivors include many friends and relatives in Southern Alberta, Cold Lake and Vernon B.C.
