MAXWELL
COLLEEN RAE MAXWELL, beloved wife of the late Stanley Elwood Maxwell of Lethbridge, passed away
peacefully at the Raymond Health Center on July 6, 2014, at the age of 87.
Mom is survived by her 7 children; Randy (Linda) of Lethbridge, Lorie of Lethbridge, Marty (Jeanne) of
Bakersfield, California, Bryan of Lethbridge, Greg (Lisa) of Magrath, Brent (Julie) of Raymond and Scott
(Cathy) of Lethbridge, as well as 22 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn
her siblings Yvonne Sherwood, Kay Peterson, Joanne (Sham) Stevens, Lydean Klovansky, and her sister-in-
law Lois Peterson. In Ontario, she leaves to mourn from Stan’s family his sister Muriel Pierce, his
brother T.J. Maxwell and brothers-in-law Kenny Lafontaine and Ted Clancy, as well as numerous nieces and
nephews.
Mom was born in Lethbridge, Alberta on October 9, 1926, to Clifford M. Peterson and Fauntella Russell.
She had a happy childhood and was blessed with a very close family, which provided her with lots of fond
memories and stories that she loved to share. Mom grew up in Lethbridge where she attended public school
and graduated from LCI. After high school she had a brief stay in Salt Lake City attending school and
living in what was then called the Beehive House. She loved her experience in Salt Lake City, especially
when she had the opportunity to play the organ in the Tabernacle. Upon returning to Lethbridge, she
worked at Kresge’s candy counter with her sister Yvonne. It is here that she met her one true love. Mom
and Dad were married on November 12, 1949, and their love spanned six decades. When all seven children
were in school, Mom went to work part time at Sears in the cosmetic/jewelry department retiring in 1984.
Mom was a wonderful person and showed love to everyone she came in contact with. Most of all, she loved
her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She lived life to the fullest, but her family was
always first and foremost. Mom loved music, and we have many special memories listening to her play the
organ and piano for family functions, church and duets with her sister Lydean. She was a member of the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and held many musical callings over the years, but her
favorite was being the Primary pianist as she loved working with the little children.
Mom will forever be remembered for the unconditional love she had for her family and all those she knew,
her ability to make everyone feel special, her generosity, her grace, her strength, her classy style, her
love of shopping … especially shopping for shoes.
She was predeceased by her husband Stan, her parents, her mother and father-in-law, her brother, an
infant great-grandson, her nephew, 6 sisters-in-law, and 6 brothers-in-law.
Friends and relatives may meet the family on Friday, July 11, 2014 ONLY from 7:00 – 8:30 pm at
CHRISTENSEN SALMON GENERATIONS FUNERAL HOME, 703-13th Street North, Lethbridge, Alberta .

MELDRUM
MRS. BERNIECE LOUISE MELDRUM, beloved wife of the late Mr. Donald Meldrum, of Lethbridge, passed away at
the Chinook Regional Hospital on Tuesday, July 8th, 2014 at the age of 88 years.
Berniece was born on June 5, 1926 at her Grandmother’s house in New Dayton, AB.
Berniece’s education was all in one room schools – the Independence School and the Owen School near
Wrentham.
Berniece and Don were married on June 27, 1947 and lived and worked most of their married life in the
Granum area. After retiring, they moved to Parkbridge Estates in Lethbridge and Berniece has resided at
the Garden View lodge for the past nine years.
Berniece always grew an abundant garden, but her real pleasure came from her immaculate yard and flower
bed (especially her roses). Our mother was without a doubt the best cook ever. She loved cooking and
after she retired she had her own cookbook printed and gave a copy to each of her children and
grandchildren as a remembrance of her.
Every year at Christmas, Berniece and Don made chocolates and for a few years they sold them and spent
many hours keeping up to the orders.
Mom’s passion was quilting. We all have quilts that have become real family treasures. Berniece’s great
grandfather homesteaded at Stirling, AB in the 1890’s. Our family has now grown to seven generations of
proud Southern Albertans.
Our Mother’s greatest accomplishment is life was being a kind, caring and giving wife, mother and
grandmother.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by each of us.
Berniece is survived by two daughters, Linda (Bruce) Murray and their children Tricia (Ron-deceased) ,
and Wesley (Jenn); Judy (Terry) Reardon and their children Nikki (Rob), Chad and Tyler; two sons Dean
Meldrum and his children, Tom (Angie), Candace (Dana) and Bradley; Bryce (Judy) Meldrum and their
children Jason (Keira) and Lindsay (Boof).
Berniece is also survived by seven great-grandchildren and her two brothers Harold and Arnold.
Berniece was predeceased by her husband Don in 1997, her parents Paul and Eldora Wesley, her grandson-
in-law Ron Hilgersom, her brothers Lenard, Cecil and Larry, and her sisters Ethel and Grace.
Berniece was strongly devoted to her faith and lived her life accordingly.
A Funeral Service will be held at THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINTS – SCENIC DRIVE CHAPEL,
2410 – 28 Street South, Lethbridge, AB on Friday, July 11, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. with Bishop Don Gibb
officiating.
