HENK WILLEM VAN EGTEREN
JUNE 11, 1922 ~ JULY 25, 2014
It is with sadness but relief that we say goodbye to the patriarch of our family. Henk had been in poor
health for a number of years and passed away in his 92nd year.
A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.

83 years. Lucille was predeceased by her husband Mr. Emile Neyron, and is survived by her beloved brother

MARTENS
January 3, 1944—July 26th 2014
With loving memory the family of JOHN MARTENS announces his passing on July 26th 2014 at the age of 70
after a courageous battle with cancer.
He will be forever loved and remembered by his wife Audrey, daughter Rhonda Martens (Trevor Campbell) and
grandsons Cole and Dawson of Lethbridge, son Wade (Jenni) Martens and grandsons Tanner and Josh of Red
deer and a special granddaughter Cassea and her family.
John will also be remembered by his brothers Bill (Bonnie) of Sydney BC, Ed (Linda) of Coaldale, Stan
(Cath) of Coaldale, his sister Shirley Martens of Victoria BC and their families. He is also remembered
with fondness by Audrey’s family.
So missed, so loved, so very dear.

PAULINE RAPSON, beloved wife of the late Charles Rapson, of Lethbridge, passed away at the Chinook
Regional Hospital on Monday, July 28, 2014 at the age of 86 years.
Pauline is survived by her three children Ron (Marlene) Rapson of Lethbridge, Judy Matlock of Lethbridge
and Laura (Don) Harker of Devon, AB, five grandchildren, Tracey (Greg) Johnson of Lethbridge, Tyler
(Brenda) Matlock of Calgary, Kristy (Trevor) Hatfield of Lethbridge, Charles Lee Harker of Devon, AB and
Nicole (Alejandro) Alvrez of Chia, Columbia, one great-granddaughter Blaire Coates of Lethbridge, one
great-grandson Ryan Meggison and family of Lethbridge and a soon to be born great-granddaughter in
September. She is also survived by her brother John Jr. (Sidonia) Liska of Raymond, sister Ann Busch of
Lethbridge and sister-in-law Ruth Liska of Lethbridge, a special friend Al Frohlick of Lethbridge as well
as numerous nieces and nephews.
Pauline is predeceased by her parents John and Katarina, husband Charles and one brother Paul.
A Celebration of Pauline’s Life will be held at IMMANUEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 20 Rocky Mountain Blvd. West,
Lethbridge on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Richard Brown officiating.

Robert John Charlton
Aug 31, 1932- Jul 27, 2014
Mr. Robert Charlton, beloved husband of Malie Charlton, passed away on July 27, 2014, at the age of 81.
Bob was born in Lethbridge to loving parents Robert and Margaret (Pearl) Charlton. He was raised in Fort
Macleod and remained there his entire life, working at the family businesses, Charlton Motors and
Charlton transport until his retirement.
His life centered around his family, motorcycles and planes. He was a pilot, as well enjoyed building and
flying intricate model airplanes. He also loved travelling to his favorite places, Hawaii and Nevada
where he went as often as he could.
He leaves to mourn his devoted wife of 30 years, Amalia (Malie), children Diane, Robert (Karen) and
Leslie, 5 grandchildren( Sheena, Kayla, Amanda, Aaron and Andrew), 1 great-grandchild (Alexis), brother
Brian, sister Marlene and niece Alexandra.
Mass and Prayers will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at HOLY CROSS ROMAN CATHOLIC

SPONHOLZ
ANNE SPONHOLZ (SEITZ), beloved wife of the late Earl Carl Sponholz of Fort Macleod and Lethbridge, passed
away at Fairmont Extendicare on July 26, 2014 at the age of 93 years.
She is also the loving mother of Rose Marie (Jim) Halverson of Lumby, B.C., Dennis (Fran French) of
Vernon, B.C., Judy (Rae Edmondson) of Edmonton, Susan (Garth) Walberg of Vernon, B.C., Patricia (Tom
Nosal) of Nobleford, Edward (Caroline Hartse) of Tacoma, WA, Bruce of Lethbridge and Alison Boneham of
Wetaskiwin; 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She is also
survived by her sister Viola Ashley, her brother Jack Seitz and numerous nieces and nephews.
Anne was predeceased by her parents George and Madeline Seitz, husband Earl, daughter Shirley Anne,
granddaughter Carey Anne and seven brothers and three sisters.
Anne was born on November 21, 1921 in Little Plume, AB, the seventh of 13 children. She spent her early
years on the farm, later moving to Medicine Hat. Anne was married to Earl Sponholz on April 12, 1941.
They lived in Medicine Hat, Carmangay, the Crowsnest Pass and Fernie, B.C., before settling in Fort
Macleod where she devoted her life to raising her children and caring for her home. Following Earl’s
passing in 1986, Anne continued to live in Fort Macleod until 2006 when she moved to Lethbridge. Her last
five years were in Assisted Living at the Fairmont Extendicare.
Anne will be lovingly missed by her family and friends. She will be remembered for her gentle, caring
nature and her wonderful sense of humour.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at Fairmont Extendicare for their
compassion, loving care and genuine affection for our mother.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

VANCE
With great sadness we announce the passing of Velma Olivia Vance Bigelow Pratt on Sunday July 27th 2014
at the age of 82. She is survived by her children Lorayne (Kerry), Karen (Carol), Sharon (George), Davis
(Diana), Ammi (Tom) and Violet, as a well as 25 grandchildren and 29 great- grandchildren. She is
survived by her siblings Leo (Ollie), David (Wilma), Margie (Don), Marili (Ross), Louise (Larry) and
numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husbands Lyle Dean Bigelow and Frank Pratt, her
parents Leo and Marguerite Vance and sister Venita.
Velma was born on Aug 11, 1931 in Barnwell, Alberta. On May 30, 1951 Velma married Lyle Bigelow in
Cardston Alberta. Velma and Lyle raised their six children on the west coast of British Columbia on
Pointer Island Lightstation. They retired to Southern Alberta in 1982 where Velma served others until her
passing. She was well known for her kindnesses to those around her. She was an active member of the LDS
church and a woman of great faith.

Services are at the Raymond Stake Centre #2N 200St W Raymond, Alberta on Wednesday July 30th 2014. Meet
the Family 10am; Memorial Service 11am. Graveside Service 3pm at the Cardston Cemetery. In lieu of
flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
