KOVACS
A gentle quiet soul is now with the angels. MR. KIM KOVACS passed away on July 14, 2014 from skin cancer at his home in Burnaby, B.C. Kim grew up in Lethbridge, attending elementary, junior and senior high. He was involved in Scouts, bowling and soccer and continued his love of sports as a fan of hockey, soccer and bicycle races. Kim loved music, was a huge Beatles fan and was fortunate to realize his life¹s dream of seeing Paul McCartney in concert. He moved to Vancouver in the late 70’s and loved living on the coast. Kim was working towards being a chartered accountant and at the time of his death, worked for Houle Electric.
Kim is lovingly remembered by his brother Greg and his children Kelan and Jory, sister Nadine, aunt Anna (Art) Blackwood, uncle John (Colleen) Kovacs as well as several cousins. Kim is predeceased by his parents Helen and Ernie Kovacs, great aunt Elizabeth Firth, grandmother Mary Szarka, step-grandfather Bert Szarka and grandparents Mr. and Mrs. John Kovacs. The family would like to say a special thanks to all the staff and Management at Houle Electric for their caring and compassion shown to Kim. Special thanks to Kim’s friend Norm Lew for providing Kim’s favorite music for his service. A Memorial will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Bob Wallace officiating. Interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery. REVENKO
1911-2014
NORAH RITA REVENKO, beloved wife of the late Peter Rovenko, of Lethbridge, passed away at the St. Michael’s Health Centre on Friday, August 1st, 2014 at the age of 103 years. Rita was the loving mother to Robert (Betty) Revenko of Saskatoon, Sask., Grandmother to Scott (Dallas) Revenko & Lori (Aaron) Ekstrom, & Great-Grandmother to Cole Revenko, Hadley Revenko, Easton Ekstrom & Tyson Ekstrom. She was also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Rita was born May 3rd, 1911, she grew up in Strasbourg, a small town in Saskatchewan. Following her early years in school, Rita began her RN training in Regina, Sask. at the Grey Nuns Hospital. Afterwards she went to Chicago to further her education and training. Subsequently, Rita’s nursing career started at the St. Michael’s Hospital in Lethbridge, AB. She married Peter Rovenko in 1942 and had one Son Robert Revenko. Rita enjoyed many handicrafts, which she also taught at the Galt Hospital. She enjoyed life to the fullest and was very friendly & outgoing. A Visitation will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge on Tuesday, August 5th, 2014 from 7:00 – 8:00 P.M. A Celebration of Life will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME – on Wednesday, August 6th, 2014 at 3:00 P.M. with Canon Allan McCuaig officiating. Interment to take place in Strasbourg, Saskatchewan. The family would like to thank all those who assisted in the care of Rita, especially St. Michael’s Health Centre & Staff as well as Suzanne Sirias, Brian & Kathy Harbidge, Carol Laycock and John & Anne Ondrus.

Tom, beloved husband of Mildred, passed away following a short battle with cancer on Friday, August 1, 2014 at the age of 80 years. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4th Street South, Lethbridge with Canon James Robinson, officiating.
