BRADLEY
BERTHA HELEN BRADLEY passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at the age
of 69 years.
Her memory will be cherished by her husband Ralph, her children Scott (Dorothy) Bradley and Kathi (Rocky)
Kalischuk and her grandchildren Tyson and Kayla Kalischuk and Alyssa Miller.
Bertha took great pride in her career as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She loved being with her patients,
getting to know them and their families.
Bertha was always taking care of her family and friends. She was an amazing woman who profoundly impacted
the lives of those who knew her. Bertha took an interest in people’s lives and had the gift of making
them feel special. She will be very deeply missed.

1919 ~ 2014
George J Hofer of Raymond, Alberta, beloved husband of the late Elizabeth Hofer, passed away peacefully
in his home on August 13, 2014 at the age of 95 years.
He was ordained to the ministry in September 1965, he was a faithful minister of the Gospel.
He is survived by his children; James (Esther), Betty (Leon) Baer, Susan (Edwin) Troyer, Laura (Charles)
Stauffer, David (Shawna), Ann (Ken) Weaver, Grace (James) Maldaner, Evelyn (John) Edwards, George
(Naomi), John (Grace), Tom (Marlene), Mark; twenty nine grandchildren; forty five great-grandchildren,
and two sisters Sarah and Annie.
Besides his loving wife Elizabeth, he was predeceased by his son Joseph, grandson Byron, and son-in-law
Leon.
The brothers and sisters wish to thank their sister Evelyn for her gentle, unending, loving care. We also
thank the home care nurses and the doctors of the Raymond Hospital.

MARION CONSTANCE
(PORTER) JOHNSTON
1924 – 2014
It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Constance (Connie) Johnston on August 13, 2014,
just one month short of her 90th birthday.
Connie was the loving wife and soul mate of Craig Johnston, whom she married in 1958, and who predeceased
her in 2004.
Connie was born in Cowley, AB on September 18, 1924, the youngest of the fourteen children of Nora and
George Porter. After finishing high school, Connie worked briefly as a hairdresser and then as a
secretary / receptionist for John Deere Ltd. in Calgary until the company offices were moved to Edmonton.
She then worked for the Calgary Board of Education until her retirement in 1982.
Connie is survived by her two sons – Ron (Marita) and Arthur; two grandchildren – David and Amanda; two
sisters-in-law – Ellenor Porter and Karma Porter; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her
husband, she was predeceased by her parents, nine sisters, and four brothers.
To honour Connie’s wishes, no funeral service will be held. Cremation. A graveside service will take
place on Monday, August 18th at 1:30 PM at the Livingstone Cemetery north of Cowley, AB. Refreshments
will be served following at the Heritage Inn in Pincher Creek, AB. Family and close friends are welcome
to attend either, or both, functions.

ROLLINGSON,DORIS (nee Wadsworth), June 28, 1920 – August 6, 2014. Doris passed away peacefully at Sunrise
of Lynn Valley in North Vancouver, BC, her daughter Adrienne at her side. Predeceased by her husband John
in October, 1992. Survived by her son John (Jane) Rollingson, daughter Adrienne (Ian) Ash, granddaughters
Lynda, Michelle, Lisa & Cindy, and 6 great- grandchildren.
Doris was born in Goole, Yorkshire, England and emigrated to Canada in January 1946, as a war bride, with
her husband John and son John. Doris loved to travel and lived in Lethbridge, Edmonton, Calgary, Ottawa,
Vancouver, White Rock and North Vancouver, always excited to move to a new place. She will be remembered
for her loving, kind spirit and wonderful sense of humour. Many thanks to the exceptional, caring staff
at Sunrise of Lynn Valley, where she lived for 10 years. You will be forever in our hearts and thoughts
Mum.

WIEST
RICHARD (DICK) ALLAN WIEST dearly loved husband of Karen Wiest, passed away at the Calgary Foothills
Hospital on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at the age of 76 years.
Dick was born June 13, 1938, at home on the Wiest farm, the youngest of 15 children of Clarence and Edith
Wiest. He received all his schooling at Enchant.
The only time Dick strayed from Enchant was in 1954, when he played for the Taber Junior Baseball Team
and 1958, when he played semi-pro ball for the Vauxhall Jets.
He continued his love for the game playing on the Old Timers team. He loved all sports and played for
many years on the local hockey and baseball teams.
Later, as his boys grew, he went on to coach some of their teams. His favorite pastime was to watch his
boys and grandchildren follow in his footsteps in their love for hockey and baseball. As his family grew,
he learned to expand his sport interests to include figure skating, volleyball, basketball and track.
December 28, 1961, Dick married Karen Odland. They lived in the “Honeymoon Shack” north of Lost Lake
until they purchased the old Herb Stevens house and barn in 1963, and had them moved to their homestead
where he resided for the rest of his life.
Dick always considered himself a real homesteader, as he had to break up all his land and plant each and
every tree. Throughout the years he also raised a variety of livestock such as cattle, chickens, emus and
even peacocks.
Dick has always been very active in his community and was always up for a challenge. He was instrumental
in bringing the following to Enchant: original park and golf course, skating rink, seed cleaning plant
and our local museum. He also served as a member of the Enchant and District Historical Society.
Dick is survived by his wife Karen, his 4 children and their families: Rachelle (husband Brian, children
Taryn & Jonathan Tycholis, Kyla, Eric & Holly, Chelsey) Steeves, Richard (wife Kandis, children Joshua &
Jenna (great grandson Jackson), Mikel, Jordan, Dallas McGrath, Joel McGrath) Wiest, Rodi (Shauna,
children Daniel, Brooke, Dharma, McKenzie) Wiest, and Ryan (wife Cherlynn, children Jaelynn, Kamryn)
Wiest. He is also survived by his brothers Cecil (wife Louise) Wiest and Phil (wife Caroline) Wiest; as
well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his daughter Shannon Wiest; parents Clarence & Edith Wiest; siblings John Wiest,
Phyllis Howg, Wilfred Wiest, Lola Batalden, George Wiest, David Wiest, Roy Wiest, Mike Wiest, Charles
Wiest, Helen Wiest, Elsie Bryant and Reginald Wiest.
A Visitation will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge on
Monday, August 18, 2014 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
The Celebration of Life will be held at the ENCHANT COMMUNITY HALL, 127 Center Street, Enchant on
Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Jeff Frostad officiating.

both of Barrhead and Aaron Van Kasteren, Paul Fettig and Jamie Fettig all of Calgary; great granddaughter
Savannah Fraser (Paul¹s daughter) of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. Alex is also survived by his
brothers Andrew Fettig of Regina, Amos Fettig of Taber and sister-in-law Doreen Fettig of Edmonton. He
will be fondly remembered by his loving companion of the last twenty years, Gladys Bosley; step
grandchildren and step great grandchildren, Tim (Kira) Kinahan (son Linkin), Graham (Chanelle) Kinahan
(children Payten and Avarie), Brandon (Desirae) Kinahan (children Breckyn and Braylee), Kelsey (Glen)

He was predeceased by his loving wife Wilma Fettig in 1986; sisters Lena (Bill) Danchuk and Catherine

Wolfe.
Born and raised in Grassy Lake, Alex enjoyed farming and raising his family in a community surrounded by
many of his cousins and relatives who also farmed in the area. During WWII, he served in the Royal
Canadian Army with an anti-aircraft battery. Upon his retirement from farming in 1974, Alex and Wilma
moved to Taber. They enjoyed travelling, making many trips to the United States in their motorhome and a
dream trip to Tahiti, Fiji and New Zealand to celebrate their twenty fifth wedding anniversary. Over the
years, Alex enjoyed many pastimes including hunting, fishing, curling and gardening to name a few. Most
of all, the many fishing trips in southern Alberta, often with family and friends were a great enjoyment.
He proudly served as the President of the 60+ organization, was active with Parkside Manor and was a
member of the Royal Canadian Legion where he often served in honour guard details and marched in numerous
Remembrance Day ceremonies. He enjoyed reminiscing with his many friends in the community and valued
their friendship and support over the years.

Alex lived a full, active and healthy life. His final weeks were made so much more comfortable thanks to
the many wonderful caregivers the Lord placed in his path. To Chris, his palliative care nurse in Taber,
the wonderful caring staff on 4B at the Chinook Regional Hospital (special thanks to Patti who cheered up
his days there) and to the amazing staff at St. Michael¹s in the palliative care unit, we thank you all
for helping dad go comfortably onto his eternal journey with his Lord. We look forward to coming together
on Monday with his many friends and relatives to celebrate a life well lived.
